I really can't say much here... you're picking between the top 2 guns on the market IMO.

Pretty much in agreement.
Shoot both and see which ergonomics you like better as well as the fit-n-feel.

I researched those same two guns before I decided on the clone gt.. The major difference I found was the clone has less kick and much more quiet, however if it is efficiency you are looking for the g6r has that edge... Most people either know if they are a poppet or spoolie guys.. I was someone like you who liked both.. The macdev will be the better shooter of the two in my opinion.. I found two of each and shot them about three days ago ..In my opinion the macdev is bounds and leaps a better smoother shooting marker..I understand everyone has their opinions there are a lot more differences between the two these are the only major diffences that stuck out to me .. Hope this helps

Any spoolie worth its salt will be softer shooting than a poppet marker. It sounds like you actually prefer spool valve markers.

You say that but a well tuned G6R with an LP poppet will put a ton of spools to shame. It is an amazingly soft shot.

I've shot both guns, and I have to say, the Clone GT is incredible. But it's personal preference.

Bang for the buck I would say it would go to the G6R. If however you are one of the lucky few that don't care how much a marker costs, I would get a Clone GT.

I vote clone. If you truly dont care then there is no reason to get the g6r, the shot is better on a gt, its efficient enough to not have to worry, its quieter, and so on. I love the crisp feel of a poppet and the efficiency which is why I shoot an rx but if you have no preference then I guess flip a coin.

both are amazing guns first and foremost. the g6r is the best poppet gun out. with an lp poppet its ridiculous how smooth it shoots and how quiet, its in spool territory. feels awesome in the hands, solid build too and amazing price for what you get.
the gt... wow. that thing is the best spool to date, no ifs ands or butts. the efficiency, the smoothness, the feel, build quality, engineering. its only flaw is the trigger and supposed "sharp" edges that aren't so "sharp". yes i am a macdev man.
i must say its a tough call and it simply comes down to this: do you like spools or poppets?
I personally would buy the gt in a heart beat over a g6 but that is just me. i love the g6 A LOT and will buy one soon.

After all the Issues one of my teammates has had with his clone and I would also steer towards the G6R.

all you have to do to a clone is maintain it. (actually this goes for any gun)
no matter what gun if it isn't maintained properly problems occur.

It was properly maintained, but has been sent back to MacDev Miami twice now due to the reg jumping all over the place. It will not hold a consistent air pressure as it jumps from 240 - 315 at any given time. That is not a maintenance issue, that's a gun defect.

MacDev has been making the best regs for years now, and I've yet to hear of a problem with one. Unfortunately it sounds like your friend just happened to get a lemon.

About the middle of last season the majority of my team switched to the GT. Almost all of us traded/sold them due to various issues which arose that couldn't be solved by our gun tech causing them to be sent in to Macdev for service. The issues seemed to be with the earlier produced GT's.
I was heartbroke when mine started having reliability issues. It was the smoothest shooting gun I had ever owned. From what I have gathered of late the ones being produced currently have less issues if any in the reliability department.
I loved My G6R as well however as smooth as it was it was not anywhere near as smooth as the GT. It was very quiet for a poppet and very smooth shooting compared to any stack tube currently on the market.

I switched from a G6R to a Clone for no other reason that I like the single tube feel where I don't have the LPR at the front of the gun. In all honesty the G6R with an LP poppet was almost as smooth (but was snappier), almost as quiet (more of a thud than the normal poppet pop) and was WAY more efficient. The clone is a fantastic platform and IMO is the best spool in existence, but like all spools it does have some nuances that are a bit annoying such as how picky it is on lube amount and oring fitment.
If your objective is the smoothest, softest shot on the market in a single tube configuration then the clone is for you. If you like a snappy yet elegant shot that can go almost all day on a single fill then the G6R is for you. For me personally though I find that the snappy feel is enjoyable, but I hate LPRs protruding. I have actually found that the marq/ vic line bridges the gap between everything I like in spools with everything I like in poppets.

Unless you are shooting more than 8-9 pods with a good 4.5K fill then you want the clone. It is the smoothest gun I or anyone else I know has ever shot. The only reliability issue they ever had was people not properly taking care of them or understanding how they even worked. They do have more going on inside at one time than almost any of the other guns on the market but if you take a little time to understand how it works then unless you have a physical part break you'll never need to send it in to Macdev. They do have a newer style solenoid in their guns which help them stay reliable to a lower battery voltage because of how much stronger it is but you should be changing your battery every 5 cases anyways. I always said it would be the end to all guns putting a Clone drivetrain into a NT.
