A little OT but still Tribal related..... "Calling all members of the TRIBE"

OK, for the most part most of us are probably tourney-ball (speedball, 5-man sup'air, etc) players. Well that's cool but there's another game out there..... and if you haven't been to this event you're missing a once in a lifetime event!
D-Day @ the Bunker in Oklahoma is the "BIGGEST" Scenario (numberwise) played in the world...... yes, I said WORLD. Last year we had something like 3400 players on the field. Due to player suggestion & safety issues the player limit is capped at 3000 players for D-Day '04.
First let me make my "pitch" and then I'll explain D-Day a little more..... I've been involved with D-Day long enough that I'm actually in command of a unit. I would like to PERSONALLY INVITE as many members of the Tribe that want to be part of my unit (Allied Weapons Group / 82nd Airborne) to contact me & then get registered at the official D-Day site.
The game- It's not just a scenario, there are individual firefights going on that are just like speedball games. In fact you'll find a lot of tourney speedball teams and players at this event. Besides the 2-day scenario game there is a sup-air field installed near the camping area that's open for play!! Play speedball whenever you like, shop the vendors for food or pb equip....... cruise the camps for ladies That's right.... 3000 players will be there & half of them bring their families along!! We're talking about 5000+ ppl total at this thing!!! And since this year is the 60th anniversary of D-Day R. Lee Ermey from "MAIL CALL" is supposed to be there.
So if you want to be part of something that's refered to as "once in a lifetime" this is it........ Gimme some feedback.

Ok, I am going to talk with the "powers to be", to see if there are any family conflicts. Paintball conflicts just leaves bruises, but family conflicts are life threatening.

KK, what is your unit? The special ops sounds like something I would like to do!!!

KK, what is your unit? How many people under your command? What type of pre-game communication actually goes on before game day? Do yall actually plan a real attack? The special ops sounds like something I would like to do!!!

Actually, I will need a mice plush hotel room, and I didn't see any links to hotels near by!!!

Vendor booths were something like $800 +$500 in givaway stuff.

As long as my owners don't require my presence anywhere else that week/weekend, I'm there! Imagine that, me actually making a D-Day... for once. *sigh*

Info

Rich: Camp trailers ane not considered RV's unless you want to park over in the RV section where they have "plug-in" electricity. There are plenty of campers, tents, trailers & real RV's that park on the camping side. Those that chose to what electricty over there bring generators. The camping is FREE.

Edwin: there are hotel rooms available I just don't know how close they are. I've heard several ppl over the years talk about staying at them.
As for my unit, I command the 82nd Airbornes Weapons Division, about 16 ppl. (by day) During the nite games I run my own DarkOps Unit. Usually 10-14 guys, the only ppl that know what we're gunna do before hand are about 1/2 of the squad. Not even the Commanding Generals are told. They just know we cause a lot of s#!t so they let us "freelance".
As for pre-game communication....... it's already happening. I've been in touch with the Commander of the 82nd for about a month now. And yes, they have a 'war room' & a sand box with tanks and everything.......

Trust me guyz....... you've never seen or played in an event like this!

Areial pic.....

Here's a birdseye view of the free camping side on Thursday, by late Friday afternoon all the empty spots were filled. Some poor bastard got there late Friday nite and the only spot available was about 10 feet from 3 porta potties..... he was camped there till it was time to leave Sunday.

I believe I have the initial approval, but I have to put it through to the budget department.

I most likely can make it.

KK, any chance you can find out more about hotels, or maybe a email address?

Thumbs up Try this

The best thing to do for anyone interested in finding out about hotels or other local needs for D-Day is to go to the "official" D-Day website. Dewayne, Randal and the Bunker staff are better equiped to deal with those issues. There might even be links there in the FAQ section that will help, if not just contact the Bunker.

I sent an email to Dewayne for Hotel Accomodation Information.

If we all get together then we should at least setup tent/camper in the same area!!! If we decide to get a hotel, we can share to save money!!!

A few things to consider......

There are probably times I wish that I were sleeping in an air-conditioned hotel room rather than my sleeping bag, however I don't go to D-Day for the comfort.......
Part of going to D-Day is the experience of being there, day & nite. Camping is part of the alure. There is a lot that goes on in and around the camps prior to game day. That's another reason I have to be there camping. A lot of the planning is done & finalized sometimes only hours before the game starts. I think if you don't camp there you'll miss some of what makes this scenario so "FN" cool....... if you have to bring a mattress, a hamock, generator or whatever else will make your stay more comfy, but I'd personally say come and CAMP!!
