I am doing a school project in which I am converting my old Ion into a mechanism to launch fishing tackle for a fishing pole for the handicapped.
Does anyone have experience modifying the Ion board to trigger the solenoid with a switch other than the attached micro switch? I am interested in any similar project in which the Ion's electronics are modified, including removing the eye functionality as well as an improved on/off switch.

you can remove the switch and use any similar switch wired in.

Thought about making it mechanical? That way you could vary the dwell each shot, depending on the weight of your projectile.
