Eyes for Shego

In building a Shego, what eyes would work best?

The obvious is to use EGO eyes since they already have the correct connector to plug onto the EGO board, but is it possible to drill out the eye hole big enough to fit the eye wire through or will I have to remove the molex connector and then re-crimp the wires in? However, they are also a square eye. Will additional modification be needed to have the eyes sit properly?

Would it be better to use older DM eyes which are also round and just mod it with a suitable molex connector to fit onto the EGO board? Will this also be an issue with fitment of the wires and seating of the eye itself though?

Or will a totally custom eye be needed? Something like a modded NXT eye with the correct harness to connect to the EGO plug in?

Thanks in advance to anyone and everyone who chimes in on this. Did a search, but most of stuff that came up were Speeds custom eyes with his mod. Unfortunately, he doesn't offer them any more. There was an old thread also, but outdated pics and definitely didn't want to revive a 5 yr old thread.....

I used DM eyes connected to an ego molex plug. Only problem i encountered was that you have to make sure the eyes are wired to the molex wires correctly as there seems to be a +/- polarity for the sender/receiver.,Also, on the original reflective sft eye side you have to position the DM eye in a vertical manor due to the original shockers eye milling.! I think the DM eyes are 2.5mm wide and the milled slot is much greater than this

Is there a way to determine the +/- in advance or is it just a trial and error situation?

I use ego eyes in mine. cs900 milled square slots for them to fit perfectly, I do have to remove the wires from the molex connector to feed them through, but you don't have to re-crimp them. I figured it would be easier to buy ego eyes vs having to make a new pair every time.

50/50 chance pal, they'll either work 1 way or not.

Shooter, how did you connect the eyes to the molex without re-crimping them in? Or did you connect directly to the board and solder them? I am trying to avoid doing that....

^^^^ This. If you can't get the square slots milled you can try stuffing the eye covers to keep the eye in place. It's not the best option but it worked for my first two shegos.

The crimped end comes out of the connector.

Instead of uncrimping the conector every time I would splice each wire with the male and female connectors on this page so you could just unplug the wire from itself and easily feed the wire through the body.
