Droid X2 ram recovery
My Droid has been running very sluggishly these last couple months. It looks like it's due to the fact that only 17% of my ram is free when no applications are running. My battery life is cut in half, and I can't find out how to stop it. I have all my user apps on the auto-end list on task killer, and I run memory boost frequently; but that just seems like a bandaid. Is there any good way to go about doing this? Or should I just whipe my phone and start over again?

If you're on Froyo or later (2.2 and up), that task killer is probably doing you more harm than good, since there's a task killer built in starting at Froyo.
Also, ask in the Android thread, they'll probably have more good ideas for you in there.

I'm on 2.3.5, but that app stays off unless I use it. I press a boost button, and it usually recovers ~10% of the memory. I didn't know there was a doid subforum, I'll check that out. Thanks for the help.

Ok, I'll whipe it and see how it goes. And naw brah, I honestly think my phone would melt if I tried that. (I am currenrly receiving a message that my phone is using 99% of its ram capacity, though.)

How many apps do you have loaded? That might be a bit of a problem if you just have too much stuff on it.

I have ~50 apps in total, but that's all in data storage and effecting the ram. I did whipe everything, and it takes 30 secconds to boot up now, vs. the usual 3 minutes. Thanks for the advice here, I gained 20% more ram and it all runs smoothly now.

So i just lost all my text messages, but I did back them up. Is there a way to put them back on my phone? I backed up my entire phone on my computer's hard drive, but I don't know what specific file they're in.

My droid x2 and my friends X2 were both complete pieces of ****. The only way mine was usable is with a custom ROM, i was with Eclipse and it was WORLDS better than stock, my battery idled at 1% per hour, sometimes less. You definitely want to load a ROM, it fixes everything about the phone except the **** screen
