They both do the same thing as your stock board does..

Save your money and go play.

Really depends on what you expect from your Ion,how much youve already modded,if you'll keep it
Blackheart&Virtue boards do offer more adjustments then stock, allow greater ROF,easier to program. If you play unlimited ROF,ramping etc these are both good options.
If you play at public fields or tourneys where ROF is limited it probably isnt worth it.
Have you added a QEV&aftermarket bolt?If not start there as board adjustments wont matter much
Usually the last add on I do is the board,I prefer Virtue because Im used to the programing& warranty is awesome.I play most games at private field where ROF& ramping are allowed and Im hard on my stuff.Im also a gunwh*re

Virtue board lifetime warranty. Ion boards breaks pretty regularly.

Actually, I've never heard of that being an issue, I mean unless you count a team of 5 Ions that have been used about the same for the past 7 years...

But yeah, my vote goes towards Virtue. I run a 7th Element board in my Eos and ran a Virtue OLED in my Ion. The Virtue board was much better. The OLED vs LED part wasn't the issue, just that Virtue boards don't get AS funky with a low battery. The Blackheart will also be a ***** to set compared to the Virtue.

I agree with above.
I had an ion with a virtue but sold it.
I now have another ion with a blackheart. It's nice but the virtue is easier to program (I like to tinker).

Also I will change from semi to PSP when switching from recball to speedball
