Are you matching your paint to barrel bore?
Are you holding your pump handle when you check your speed?

check/replace your springs, clean/sweetspot your reg, clean/polish your internals. make sure your balls can be blown through the barrel with little effort, while not just dropping out.

It's very likely that you need to use a tighter bore than what you have. Try that, then let us know what happens.
The reg and internals are very unlikely to be the culprit.

Some masking tape detents would be a good thing to try in the meantime.
They should at least eliminate the possibility of partial rollouts.

it's a good day when you're +/- 0 over the chrono all day.

I have to say that it's impossible to get +/-1 all day. No weather or paint is perfect!

Evolve Pi Reg
mind = Blown
between +/- 1 and +/- 2 all day. went from 40 degrees in the morning to 74 in the afternoon. swapped barrels up .006 once.
AAANY ways. Check your spring setup. My valve spring caught on my back frame screw until I cut it down a bit.
if that's not it you might have some valve pressure issues. re-sweetspot and turn IVG in to desired, make sure to shoot 3-4 times in between every adjustment. that USUALLY fixes things.
Edit - check for obstructions in your valve air chamber, you might have a o-ring bouncing around in there blocking flow every couple shots.

If you didn't chronograph every shot, I still find it difficult to believe. Just sayin'.

True. I usually do 5-10 first crono, and then another 5-10 if the temp changes enough (it did).
Considering I rarely shoot fast enough for shoot down it seemed good enough

If you have shoot down on any gun with a modern tank, something is wrong.

Leave your tank reg alone. The chances of it being the issue is next to nothing. There's a slim chance your inline reg is causing the issue, but not likely if it is so random. Simply swap to a different reg to see if you can get it consistent.
Check the bottom tube around the hammer for dirt, then try other barrel bore options.

i forgot about the lower tube... my S5's reg was singing/whistling/squeaking so i cleaned and lubed it, no more singing.
