Pizza and Paintball

Looking for some ideas of what other players, may be interested in when it comes to paintball courses. The wife, and I are working on a business plan to open a pizza restaurant with paintball. This is not intended on being a small, with the sport of paintball growing, we would like to make this big enough to bring in the collegiate level of play, and be able to hold other tournaments in the Jackson area.

as far as rec play goes take a trip out to hells survivors...
Lots of cool ideas there.

As for speedball(although they both get alot of rec players too)
Cru and TCP, both have alot to offer business end of things too.

Definitely try and hook up with one of these places to learn more about the industry

I will do that thanks, I also plan on making it to Hell Survivors tomorrow, as long as things are good after the storm yesterday. Hope to meet a lot of people, and learn some new things.

So, basically, this is going to be a paintball field that has a pizza kitchen?

More than just a kitchen, this is going to be a full restaurant. We are also working on the idea of including live webcasting for away games to Vandercook Lake Schools, and I would like to put camera's out on the fields so that the people, in the restaurant can watch the games that are going on while they eat.

I feel like a full on restaurant/paintball field will have a difficult time coexisting in the same location. Paintball is inherently a dirty sport. Paint causes a nasty oily/grimy residue on surfaces, and it stinks. Plus a lot of paintball players stink and don't wash their gear like they should. You wouldn't really want that dirt getting anywhere near a restaurant environment.

Of course outdoor fields don't garner as much of that nasty paint residue because of rain washing it away. But then you still get a lot of dirt/mud.

I don't want to rain on your parade but I just can't wrap my mind around how the two businesses could exist at the same place.. Sports bar type place maybe.. It'd be really interested to see how you pull this off.

On the flip side, hells does manage to have food on location for big games, and people don't have a problem with that, but its not a restaurant type deal either.

I'd skip on cameras for the fields until you're up and running for awhile. I can't imagine that any decent web camera that can capture the action on field without breaking is going to be inexpensive.

Look up Gatsplat in texas for some great information on running an indoor paintball field.

Sounds like a great idea, but would be really costly. Indoor/outdoor play?

Solution could be to have the Parlor in half, or 3/4 of the building if need be, and the registration/equipment rental room in the other portion.

Food could then be purchased from both areas.

Most players aren't going to want to sit very long for lunch anyways.

Staging could be outside too. For the main parlor you could ask any players to remove playing gear before coming in.

This is if it is going to be an outdoor field.

I'm sure it could work. Biggest issue would be the location.

Can't be to far out of the way or the parlor could fail and it can't be to far into the city, unless your willing to pay top dollar for indoor industrial type space.

Indoor field the grim will be inevitable.

You would probably want to get a sound proof dividing wall for indoor.

Worst comes to worst you would just have to clean more often in the parlor.

Not a bad thing for any food prep/ consumption area anyways.

Just my two cents.

Just have a walk up ordering section on the paintball side. Keep the resturaunt end paintball gear free, as in no playing gear, cleats, excessively dirty cloths etc.

A woodsball field is a must. Speedball is fun and all but woodsball is true Paintball. It's where it all started and it's the biggest aspect of the game.

I agree with you on that, we thought it would be good to start here, and if it is possible to expand the that would be the next place to go for me. I have always wanted to just live up north.

You are right, it was never ment to be in the same building not unless it was big enough to hold the shop. The shop its self was for selling merchandise, working on others markers, and storage for refill stations. For the spot that we found there is 117 acres, to build and make it the best that I can over the next several years. I know that this is going to be a life project and goal for me. I really believe that the idea of pizza and paintball, will help the sport grow in such a way that it would be good for both industries to survive.

I agree with you on the woodsball. It is surely on of my favorites. Do not get me wrong I do enjoy some senerio, along with a villiage, capture the flag, and the list can go on. The good thing is that you can put all of these in the woods or a speedball course. I have played speedball one time, I would not mind giving it another try, as I work on getting into better shape. Just to keep up with you guys.

To go along with the 117 acres that I found. There a shop that is for sale that the land that the other proberty runs right behind it. So the idea of what you mentioned surely was there minus the idea of letting players order to the paintball shop/store. That really does sound good, putting a order window up for the players to order premade pizza's, sandwiches, or even for the heathy eaters salads.

I would re-think this! I am talking to a guy helping him design a airball field in a golf dome that will have 2011/2012 bunkers, brand new turf, all the top of the line stuff! That is going to be harsh competition for you! Pm me and I will give you info!
