That's what people always say but when u travel across the country and pay thousands of dollars just on entry alone... And don't even break even on that when u win u can only do it for so long before u run out of money.... Just one of a few reasons why a lot of ppl have quit the sport....

True but if you're looking to make profit by playing, you're in the wrong sport.

I kind of like that the prizes in lower divisions are entry to another tournament. Keeps people playing more.

well the thing is that i was looking at the prizes for the 2012 season and really we end up spending more than what we win. so yeah i love the thrill of the sport but if you win you should come back with something extra, especially in the top national tournament. Div 2/3 race to 2, 1st place gets 25% of entry fees for that div so i think that would be the best way to go as far as getting sum $ back in return for all the expenses we incurr. so question still stands

I play paintball for fun, and to shoot people with my boys. Prizes do not influence this

the prizes they have now are great for the lower divisions because of the free entry influences players to play more..
If anything maybe doing a credit for an event may be a bit better
(Ex. you wanted to play D3 xball the event you won but couldnt round up enough guys or money so you play d3 5man and you win. The next event you use your prize of the credit to play the D3 xball event you wanted to play )

even when you win free entry to the next event your still putting out more than what your getting because of paint, hotel, trip, food. I LOVE THE SPORT but I would think being the top tournament in the world the prizes would be more. i know people need to get paid but for example i have played division 4 for a long time and i wanna say there is at least 40 teams that pay $1000. thats $40,000 and if you win you only get entry to the next event. damn where do those $39,000 go????? and psp was having trouble staying afloat. THE PRIZES NEED TO BE BETTER. just throwing some facts out there. and thats only for that division, there is alot more!!!!!!

Prizes need to be better for what? When was the last time in any sport that you won anything besides a trophy below a pro level. Winning anything more than that for D3 is bonus. Thats like saying that high school football should make some money when they win state championships. Be serious. Not to mention so you win entry to the next tournament which is basically a return on your entry fee plus which ever paint manufacturer you used just credited everything you spent on paint for the event. Not to mention you start winning events your field gets you better sponsorship but it takes years to break even in paintball, if you expect more than that GET OUT NOW!!!

I drag race in an amatuer division, got somewhere around $35k in the truck, and when we won a national event last year, first place was $800. This covered our fuel and hotel. But damn it sure felt good to win!!

in high school football you dont pay to compete. if the high school football program is doing good then they give them more funds. you compete in high school to get recognize and get scouted and then eventually picked up for college ball and yes you get sign on bonus if you are that good and eventually can end up in the NFL. in paintball you are on your own. you have to work your way up and if you wanna play pro then you can try out. WE PUT THE MONEY. yes i expect more with all the money we spend
