Quick question. Is the stock etek 3 barrel a shaft 3? thanks

Yep...minus the extra milling and porting tht comes on the ego barrels. The shaft 2-3 fronts will work with the stock back.

The shaft backs are the best upgrade you can do for any PE marker. 2-3 backs and your ready to play all day.

Shaft is Planet Eclipse's barrel they produce (Like Dye's Ultralite/Boomstick, Smart Part's Freak, etc...). They have produced the Shaft Solo, Shaft 2, 3, and 4. Also with SL (Shaft 2,3,4 milled differently for the SL Egos) variations for each model. Also since after the Etek 2 they have made "simplified" Shaft 3, and 4 barrels for the Etek 3/4 and Etha. The reason I say after the Etek 2 was in my opinion the Etek 2's stock Shaft 2 was the same as the 08 Ego's Shaft barrel. After that they simplified the milling and porting but retained the exact same threading (where the two barrels join) as the Shafts that came with the Egos. Hope this answers your question.

Do these go onto the Marker, and then you attach the stock front part of the barrel to this?? Im new and trying to figure it out.

My buddy gave me an Empire Carbon Fiber barrel with my Etek. I like the looks, but dont know any specs on it.

Yes, that's correct. Here's my Etek3 with a Shaft 3 Barrel Back and the stock (grey) front. Horrible lighting in this pic, but you get the idea:

If you want to break away from the stock barrel, you could get a Deadly Winds 14" barrel($91). They take freak inserts($79) so you can adjust to the environment.
