Our team discussed this as well, we enjoyed playing PSP last year but "Crowd Participation" was #1 turn off, especially when we only have 5 guys there and no supporting crowd. The point of pump is to be sneaky and fast thinking, some drunk punk on the sidelines yelling that your coming when you make a sweet move takes all of the fun out of it.

I don't know if we'll be able to get enough commitment to play the series this year, especially with that rule in place but two of us have stated we'd be willing to be free agents for other teams. I'd really like to play 2-3 events

coaching ruins the purpose of pump and my team hated it.

that being said instead of playing the whole series we will only play the two localish events.

We didn't like the coaching ether but there's nothing the PSP can do about it and I tried working the "no coaching" thing between teams but no one could ever agree. So with that said if there's coaching were using it (probably), same with padded jerseys and autotriggers.

Actually PSP stopped coaching with the 10 man at world cup so they could do the same with Pump.

I did two events, MAO and Cup. I had a blast.

I really wished that coaching was nixed, but hey it's pretty hard to get everyone to agree to it. Take cup for example, IIRC we had most teams that thought it was a great idea for no coaching, but I think one or two were strong for it.

It is what it is.
I'd like to hit at least one event this year, but I'm in the process of relocating to Florida for work. So we shall see.

The problem or reason given last year was because the fans are still allowed to comment/coach and the rules said you could coach. So unless they make a few changes I don't see it going away, unfortunalty. Also I could be wrong but the 10man field was not located next to all the other fields at Cup which is why I would imagine it worked for them. Normally the pump field is one of the regular fields they use.

My personal opinion: just go with the rule book. Adapt and overcome.

the whole adapt and overcome mentality is how the pump/mech paintball evolved into the mess that is now xball with electros.

I just want to play sideline coaching or not. My feelings are mixed on sideling coaching as you can use it to an advantage on the field but its mostly unfair to a snake player

I'd be a lot more interested if this were to happen, might actually buy two extra plane tickets.

I agree with both comments, I just worry that since PSP is the only National League with Pump that if teams start making demands as with what happened with the NPPL it might go the way it did in the NPPL.
We have a great series, format and venues just play it and enjoy it.

Their were more issues with the NPPL than just players making demands (don't get me started on this issue). Players always make demands or suggestions for improvement, ultimatly its up to the leagues and the leagues will continue to do what they feel is best for the players and them.

P.S. What the PSP is doing for pump is amazing and I wouldn't change anything. Coaching included, I said before I may not like it, but I can deal with it, if it means having a national event series to play.

I played pump at NPPL Vegas 2012 and I gotta say that it was kind of a cluster. It was almost as if the division was an afterthought, with no staging area ready ready for our team, poor scheduling and ripping us around, and a whole lot of attitude. For these reasons, we are gonna try and make it to a PSP event this year for the pump division. It's a little bit further for our team, but we are hoping they hold event 2 in Phoenix because that would be doable for us. Thanks a million to the PSP for keeping the pump division alive! No coaching would be best for pump, so maybe they will consider that for the season. Have a great 2013 to all teams, whatever you decide to play. Thanks, Justin
