Will GOP kill the hostage?
Do you think the GOP will really fail to raise the debt ceiling sending us into technical default, destroying the world economy?

GOP officials said more than half of their members are prepared to allow default unless Obama agrees to dramatic cuts he has repeatedly said he opposes. Many more members, including some party leaders, are prepared to shut down the government to make their point. House Speaker John Boehner “may need a shutdown just to get it out of their system,” said a top GOP leadership adviser. “We might need to do that for member-management purposes — so they have an endgame and can show their constituents they’re fighting.”

The increase will happen but even if it didn't the world wouldn't end. It's all hype and rhetoric as usual.

Reread that sentence and realize you used a political party and thinking like a reasonable individual together.
Now who's the silly one?

You're kidding right? The last debt ceiling was barely averted in 2011 and only because the dems completely caved.
A technical default could be 2008 all over again since U.S. debt are the safe assets that lynch the world financial system together.

Hey numbskull: this is a threat by the GOP to not pay for spending THEY already authorized.

Because they're using a dangerous tactic to blackmail the other branches to do what they want since they don't actually have the power to get legislation passed, and its working because the dems care about the hostage and the GOP doesn't.

If you purchased a car and refused to pay for it are you not responsible to reap the repercussions?

Don't be dumb.
Forcing the Treasury to find loop holes is pretty ****ing serious business.

That's a different situation because you'd be using your own money to buy a car and not the taxpayers' money.

2006—Senator Obama Voted NO on Raising the Debt Ceiling
“The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. … Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that ‘the buck stops here. Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.”
- Senator Barack Obama
And yet his minions go along with his flip flopping without a second thought.
