Diamond Labs Hurricane Valve predicament

So I bought a new-ish TI 'cane valve a while ago and could never fit it on my minimag's rail. What gives?

Is there something about the valves which only allows them to seat in specific rails?

I REALLY want to use this valve back on my mag, but this isn't working out.

Any ideas/history/intel would be greatly appreciated.

****, then what could be the case?

Is the guide pin off on the valve? Any way to have it relocated?

Holy ****. I'm in Walnut Creek.

And yes, both halves come together perfectly. When I put the valve and bolt assy back onto the rail and let it go through that final groove, the hole at the bottom of the valve is off just enough to stop the set screw at the back of the frame from lining up and going in.

This guy was an idiot, always knocking off other peoples ideas without an eye for quality control. Anyone who's ever tried (and I stress, tried) to thread a barrel into one of his MicroMag clones can tell you QC is an issue with his products. My guess is that your valve back was not very well made and the tolerances are too far off from AGD standard.

*sigh*

Don't worry, I read through all your posts about him back past even 2007.

I was guessing that may be, but I still want this to work out.

Lots of great companies' designs tended to lack QC. Look at some of Evolve' stuff, although that's kind of overdoing it, some of their **** only was the best IF it worked. I'm fine with that.

My builds are out of curiosity, so as long as it can be made functional, I have to complaints.

My question is as to how I can go about doing that.

If using a field strip pin just open up that back hole a bit

do not listen to that^ it will mess up the tolerances with the valve not to mention your rail bushing. best bet is to see if it needs to get tighter or looser to fit. then i would make the zpin slot bigger to make it work but that is after trying to tighten or loosen the reg back

I'm not exactly sure what you mean, demented.

So just mill the rail so the retaining pin from the valve back will allow the holes to line up?

first try to figure out which way your reg needs to go so that your field strip screw will go in the valve. if it needs to go to the left you can unscrew it a tiny bit and do no modifications. if it needs to go to the right then you will have to make the slot a bit bigger on one side so it fits.

but i would try to do it with out modding it first

Wouldn't grinding the pin off allow the regulator to spin freely? On my classic if I'm done playing for the day I notice my reg is spun out of line with the lettering on the rest of the valve. Basically meaning, if you don't check it constantly you could potentially have a projectile with 800+ psi behind it.

And if I recall, once the gun is aired up I couldn't spin it back in place, only when the gun was de-gassed could I return it to "lined up"

Id mill the rail before I messed with the valve.

It won't back out by itself. I have 2 valve that were annoed, Z-pins removed and never put back in. Never had them back out.

I'm sure its a case by case basis... my classics backs out after maybe 10 shots, the pin stops it from going further

I may pull the Pin instead; but yes, it needs to slide about an mm, maybe a tad less, to the right.

well ****.
Then I'd rather mod the rail. Doesn't have to be super precise, does it? I can dremel or drill press it.

Id get it as close to perfect as you can, Id take a dremel on low with a carbide honing bit, or the small barrel sander. Check it often and stop when it fits. Probably take longer to find your dremel than to do it

or you could unscrew your reg back a tad and it will fit since you said it needs to go counter clockwise
