Did I go too far?

My most recent post on facebook may have been a little too big of an attention grabber, what do you think?

Not 100% sure that is the advertising or marketing I would be using, as my stats show that 74% of the indivuduals that "payed" (more important than played) for paintball at my facility in the last 4 weeks were female between the ages of 34 and 45 with kids age 7 - 12. Not sure that marketing would make them feel comfortable with your facility.

but maybe it's just me.

Your right, I struggled with whether I should put this up or not and at the end of the day I think it was the right decision. As you can see be the people who commented and shared that female demographic seemed to respond positively and in fact shared. My facebook analytics program says that it was shared 43 times since I put it up yesterday generating 345 engaged views and creating 123 stories. I got a bit over 700 views thus far and I expect 1.5k-2k by game day. It was a bit risky but I think it payed off.

If you put up the video of megan fox having sex with a donkey, you will get even more views. The thing to think about... you look at the people who posted here who are probably some who liked it... The people on this board are paintball players. You are new to the business side of this, but I'm sure if you ask any of the successful owners on this forum, you will find out that 90% of their income comes from people who are not on this board, and do not own a gun or a jersey. You are getting views from tourney guys in the continental states, which probably will not do much as far as bringing in little billies birthday party.

You just have to decide what audience you want to go after, and if it's tourney guys - or woodsball guys in their 20's etc, there is probably nothing wrong with it.

If you are tying to get 7 - 13 year old birthday parties, and the moms that don't mind throwing down $600 for a party for their son, then I would say it gives the wrong message about what you offer at your park.

Yeah, but you have to remember that probably most of those views came from here and MCB and other forums you may have posted this to. I went there and took a look for instance, but the chances of you seeing me at your field is probably pretty slim. My point is, you have to be really careful how you analyze data.

The marketing specialist seems to like your idea! Honestly I imagine anyone who didn't find it super funny didn't bother reading it, which means limited bad press.

But Horizon is spot on, I imagine a good deal of your views came from random people. Like the marketing specialist and us. If I shared it, you'd have like 30 random Brooklyn, new york paintball kids liking it and commenting, but none would end up at the field. It would spread quickly as a momentary laugh in the nyc paintball community, would I imagine would inflate the views states without putting any $$ in your pocket.

Not saying it was a bad idea, it was not a bad idea at all imo. But I would watch how you read those stats.

Out of the 51 likes 20 are female, 17 of those females live on island, and out of those I can tell 7 have kids but there may be more. I think it was PG enough for most mothers not to have a problem.

Ha ha, No worries on not sharing. That is mostly for locals to share anyway. Its good to spread the word either way, I want to create a destination paintball place. I figure people may see it and kill two birds with one stone: vacation for family not interested in paintball, sick place to play paintball.

as a family sport like someone else said most players don't own guns or jerseys or anything. I would remove it and come up with a family focused ad

such as instead of crayons have a player that was lit up with paint giving a thumbs up

Well, heck... if it's "legit as ****" why would any mom complain about her 7 year old going there... Trying to explain brutal sex to a 7 year old is every mom's dream.

I agree, it was too far lol. Keep it professional. Nobody has an issue with a clean, upstanding facility. A facility run by people who could be perceived as immature is a whole other story.

Parents are a fishy lot. Their morality can go in one direction for themselves.....and make a 180 degree turn when it comes to their kids. Best not to tempt fate as a business owner.
