I mean C'MON its PSP
Go start a national tournament and tell us how it works out. You obviously have no idea how much it costs to run a tournament. And if you want to make money, go get a job.

I would assume that a lot of the money divisional teams spend at events is subsidizing the Pro division, along with the webcast that is apparently costing the PSP 6 digit numbers.

There wasn't a webcast in 2008, and the attendance numbers were still similar to 2009 when there was a webcast (I think?). So, where did the money come from if they we're struggling so hard at that time? I believe Lane said something like $300k for the webcast (Per year? idk) in another thread. So how does that work, exactly? The PSP affords a webcast but can't manage to AT LEAST give the divisional guys a chance at breaking even? Personally, I'd rather have a chance at winning an additional couple grand than have 15 minutes on the webcast.

I'm not trying to be overly critical, it's an honest question.

PSP offers divisions where you can make money, break even, and not so much. It is up to each team to decide which division they want to play in. If a team chooses to play in a division where they can't break even, then that's the team's decision.

If teams are upset that there is not enough money handed out so that everyone can break even, well, this ain't kindergarten.

Playing PSP events is a lot of fun, even if you don't win (and it has to be, cause most people don't win.) And PSP offers a lot of divisions for people to play in so everyone has the best chance of having a good time when they play. Not all of those divisions are designed for people who want to compete for money, but if you DO want to compete for money, you certainly have the opportunity to. You'll just have to compete against other teams competing for money, and other teams competing for money are probably pretty good.

Remember, the first step to winning D4 is deciding not to play Pro, D1, D2 or D3.

so would any other player...

and if those numbers on the cost of the webcast are right... thats crazy...

a 300k contract to stream a webcast 17 days out of the year...

thats gota be for more then one year and include one hell of a website....

ppl play the divisions that appa puts them in... plus pro is invite only so D1 is the only division that u can chose where u dont lose money if u win... so one division u have a chance of coming any where close to not being hundreds of dollars in the red after an event.... :/

You mean there are prizes?

Even in other pro sports, most athletes supplement their income with endorsement deals.
Many pro athletes are in it for the rings and the trophies. The rest is just a bonus.
