I've seen people use egos in some pretty bad conditions, so I know it can take it. However, it all comes down to preference. They are both high end PE guns so they are going to program and come with most of the same options. However, it is worth noting that the ego 11 is a finished product while the geo 3 is a work in progress as they continue to make updates to it.

From my experience spoolies (DMs and GEOs) have a hard time in the cold and/or humid conditions. The EGOs are as reliable as the sun rising. Some don't like the added height of the stacked tube poppet. But for my style of play it's a non-issue.
My vote is to go with an EGO11 and toss in a D.A.R.T. kit. Or if you want the lower profile look into a Vic Ripper or Axe.

I had a miserable time with my Geo so I cannot justly recommend it. For the ego, I own the 10 and that gun is practically indestructible. As far as consistency and reliability the ego line is among the best around.

Ego7 with a banjo mod (remove the qev) is a pretty solid gun. Don't waste money on the LP poppet... And maybe consider a cure 3 and zick kit (zick 1 & 2 have negligible difference, so find a zick 1 for dirt cheap as an 08 take out that upgraded to a zick 2) to maximize performance.

I think the ego8 is a better option. That is when they put the offset feedneck in IIRC.

The "deftek" (offset feedtube) was on the 7 too. Plus, when you remove the QEV you never have to worry about a manifold failing at the most inopportune time.

Quite the opposite. Possibly the easiest marker to maintain I've ever seen.

1. Remove bolt
2. Uncrew the back cap
3. Remove ram
4. Place 1 drop of oil on the ram's Orings
5. Reinsert ram
6. Screw back cap back in place
7. Put bolt back in

The G6R maintenance is about the same, but add a couple drops of triflow to the bolt and use dow55 on the ram instead of oil. Similar maintenance and IMO the G6R shoots better.

The difference between the g6r and the ego is negligible.

I disagree. Have shot both pretty extensively and while I like the grip on the ego better it ends there. I only got to shoot a couple pods with an 11 with a DART and it did seem better than a normal 11, but I really don't have enough time to make my call on that. Overall the feedback on the G6R is smoother, it is quieter and more efficient, plus it has no macro (if you count that as a plus).

I've heard people say you need to up the LPR when playing in cold weather.

Here's a few things that may help with your DM.
1) Use a slick lube and apply in a LIGHT coat. I love MacDev militia v2.
2) Up the LP slightly.
3) Up the dwell slightly.

Using a super slick lube with a moderate LP setting and proper dwell will eliminate any FSDO issues you may have.

The solenoid is also different and depending on what model you get, it will either have all metal or metal and non metal components

The difference between the G6R and the Ego is only negligible in that they are both stacked tube poppets. Everything from that point on the G6R is superior or equal. Maintainence on both is about the same, prior to break in the Ego is marginally easier to maintain. After they are both broke in the G6R will be a little easier to maintain due to the fact that it is designed to wear in, while the Ego parts wear out.
Shot quality (sound, smoothness, kick, trigger) are all far better on the G6R!
The best Ego (11 or CSL) still need the D.A.R.T. Kit to approach the G6R in any of these categories.
The feel or ergonomics of a marker is completely subjective. Some prefer the Ego layout. I prefer the slightly thinner frame and the stretch of the G6R to the Ego.
