Tournaments for laid back players?
I've been playing rec ball for over 10 years now, and have been involved in MANY scenarios. My last trip to my local field I stepped onto the speedball field and had a good time, but this was during rec play with a few guys from a local team practicing.
I don't want to get involved with cfoa, psp, etc, but was curious if there were any tournaments for the casual "rec" player who only uses semi? I'm not interested in ramping even though my guns will allow me to. I just want to try some speedball stuff at a entry level. I was curious if there are ANY tournaments that use semi only? If not I'll go back to playing Rec and forget about it. I just thought it might be an avenue for some of us with no tournament experience to get into the tournament world. I know the guys on my team held our own against a good local team when we were all on Semi. Anyway, just dreaming here.

CFOA D6 is the only regular type event that I know of. It is semi only 3man capped at 10.5bps
It is for first time first year tourney players only.

Yeah, D6 sounds like it would perfect for you. And it's not too expensive to play either

You might also be interested in the cfoa pump series. Not a whole lot of balls flying with that, and it may be what your looking for as well. Good luck to ya.

yea its really hard to find semi around here. Glory road has a 3-man series that they are opening up to everyone (no rankings no anything) so experienced and unexperienced will be playing, but it is ramping...

I don't have a pump and really don't enjoy playing pump, I just want to play semi. I'm competitive on the field even in rec play, but not obsessed with it. I just want to have some fun and maybe win a trophy someday.

I honestly have no clue what D5 is other than a step up from D6. I've played in 1 tournament in my life where we (woodsball players) decided to form a 7 man team to see how we would do....not well. I'm a woodsball player at heart, but just getting interested in trying some casual type speedball tournaments. Where can I find D5 details?

If your close, XK is hosting it's second 3 man event at Durham on Jan 20th. It's 12.5 ramp but I'd say overall a relatively laid back tourney. If your looking to get into the scene to just have a good time, that may be a good start.

Assuming you are still in angier black river paintball has some tournaments. Check out their "pick 3" events.
Honestly I think you are overthinking this. It's all good paintball, jump right in. The experience can be as laid back or as intense as you want it to be.

Yeah I'm in Angier, I'm just looking for something without ramping. It's part of the reason I don't do big games anymore.

I'm not particularly a fan of it either but at 12.5 is it that big a deal?

Well maybe I'm just too old school for tournaments. My favorite gun doesn't have ramping or full auto, just semi only. I'm getting a geo next week, but would still love to be able to use my favorite gun anytime I play. I guess there just aren't enough people left who don't have any desire to use ramping except in rec play.

There have been tournaments almost as long as there has been paintball. Things do change, although I'm sure semi will make a comeback eventually.
What drove ramping formats into existence in the first place was the rampant cheating involved with semi auto. It was too easy to exploit and gain an advantage with cheater boards or even just bouncy setups.

Maybe I'm just in a grumpy mood this week and looking for something to ***** about. I remember when I played in my only tournament our team had an Ion, A mag, 2 shockers, 2 dm4's, and something else all shooting in semi. We lost every game, but we had fun.

You can shoot semi at any division level. I don't think you are required to shoot ramp.
