The gsxr 1000 i have , posted a picture a few pages ago has 168 to the tire. M4 Carbon Fiber Pipe, Tooth Down in the front, PC3 w/ custom map -- And i love it. Been riding for 9 years. Have had everything from CBR600s, VFR750's to Gsxr-1000s. This bike will be with me until it blows up.. Then ill rebuild it. Wish i woulda held out until 07 though because that year is nice , especially the copper and black

My first bike KLR 600 - which had 1/4 of the horsepower that i do now and it did its job just fine btw

If you think about it, all I really said is that I don't want something less than a 600. I had a YZF600r for a while and while it was a fun bike the lack of fuel injection became a real problem when it got cold out. Seeing that just about all the major FI 600's are over 100hp, that means by default I need more than 100hp to get what I want. It would have made a lot more sense if I had said that earlier instead of only saying I have to pull out onto a fast road I think wanting the power of a FI 600 is something many people here (especially those who routinely take a girl on the back) would agree with if they aren't flying around the track on a light 250. I don't do track days or ride like I'm on a track so the joys of a 250 aren't as relevant to what I want out of a bike.

So you want a high horsepower supersport to cruise around on?

Ride safe. There is more to group riding dynamics than most people think. Hopefully you are riding with safe, like-minded riders. Let them know it's your first group ride and they'll likely be a lot of help for you.

I like the year model you have better than the 07's actually.

Nothing wrong with liking a little power. All in good fun.

If you take a look at modern numbers I'd actually be at a low power super sport at 100hp.

If riding at a good pace with a passenger is on your priority list, maybe consider a sport tourer.

I don't want something that heavy.

The YZF I had is more or less a sport tourer and it was great for long rides as well as keeping the lady comfortable. The only thing I didn't like is how heavy it is compared to a true sportbike. My roommate's R1, weight wise, felt like a toy in comparison and it felt a lot more cooperative in the handling department.

I'm probably going to stick to the full on sportbikes until I graduate and settle down. The plan is to buy an 07ish 600 with low miles now while they're cheap, ride it through July, and sell it before the bottom drops out in late August. 2007 seems to be the magic number where prices are right, miles are low, and full coverage insurance w/theft is only about $300/year. 2008 shoots up to $550 and the rest is just bad news.

why not look into an fz1 or the naked cbr1000? Same powerplant, bit more upright seating position.

You know, the new 600's don't really get anywhere either woth the low rpms. I've owned both. The new ones are not that much faster just have a harder kick in the top end because they have even less power in the low end.
