Anybody else see alot of delusional people selling paintball stuff on craigslist?
Seems like around here a few want waaaay too much for their paintball stuff. Or just wants to get rid of it and have it for a bargain.
I noticed one today where a guy is selling a unknown low end milsim gun, A5, 98c, Spyder Sonic, 5 20oz, 1 45/3000 and few small items for $600. A couple of the guns needed o-rings and screws to work. The stuff retails for $750 and you could get it all for $350 off ebay. Who in their right mind thinks somebody will pay that much for that many markers? No one person needs all that and nobody is going to make money re-selling it all.
But it happens all the time guys throw all the paintball stuff they have in a pile and make a price based on the size of the pile. Not everybody is like that but it seems the mil-sim guys are bad about throwing all their stuff in a bulk overpriced mess.
I just think its funny and wonder what people are thinking sometimes.

On a side note I think the tippman stuff plays a big part in it.
The tippman guns have not changed so while they once were state of the art and red hot they drop in value and price while the guys who bought them still think that the A-5 retails for $275.

my favorite are the ones selling 2 beat spyders and old co2 tanks with crap gear for $600. though i have seen some nicer older high end markers at their time for decent prices. I have also seen some wishful pricing on ebay too.

I've also seen some crazy prices on CL...
Ebay has gotten better but I remember back when if you wanted a lot more than something was worth, you threw it up on Ebay because you'd always get a couple retards that were willing to pay too much for it just because they wanted to "WIN"

"My Tippmann 98 retails for $200 new, but since I slapped on a whole bunch of useless plastic **** and a 56 inch sniper barrel, I'm selling it for $650. Local cash sale only!"

Sad part is I am sure some parents with cash looking to buy stuff for their kids have over paid getting stuff off CL
And the A-5 effect kills me. Its the most overpriced gun ever. And some people still think its the cream of the crop. I noticed a guy looking to trade one A-5 for 3 98 customs or 2 98 customs and cash.

To be fair, market value is determined by the masses. Ions could be worth $500 if that's all anyone would take for them.

What gets me is the "lots of accessories" usually a couple of co2 tanks out of hydro, a low end aftermarket barrel, low end mask, plastic barrel plug and shake and bake hoppers somehow this adds a ton value to what they are selling.

Agreed, you rarely see high end add-ons. Thats fine but you cant charge retail on them. Usually the people who are serious players have their stuff priced pretty good. Its mostly rec ball guys who don't have a clue for the most part, not all of them but most.

Yeah thats another good point. Alot of people don't realize markers lose value like automobiles. A marker that is 4 years old is usually outdated and one that is 8 years old is ancient in most cases. I am not saying thats fair and you can't play with an old marker but thats the perception. Its especially true on the electronic markers which are improved all the time.

"Improved" is a tricky word in an of itself in this instance.

I buy deals on craigslist quite often and clean em up and sell the on ebay. Typically I quadruple my money... Sometimes I make even more.
I've always at least doubled my money every time I flip one.
I just ignore the over priced ones... If it is priced right, it will sell quick. That is the key to craigslist.

It's not just paintball gear people think is worth more than it is. I want to strangle people when they claim something is rare and antique. No you idiot it's just a rusted over wind chime.

Some stuff really does get improved no question. For example the old spyders need 9.6v batteries. Its a little cheaper because they are easier to recharge but they don't seen to last and its a hassle.

Your right there are some good deals. I am going to buy and sell some stuff for a little extra cash. But on average here its 4 overpriced paintball items to every good deal and a few that are priced about right in the middle.

I've seen mixed prices down in Central Florida. Nothing all that to outrageous.
