Graphic anno by hand?
I've posted a few threads trying to find a way to get my project finished.
http://www.pbnation.com/showthread.php?t=3836113
http://www.pbnation.com/showthread.p...364&highlight=
I now know the process I'm looking to have done is graphic anodizing. But I'm thinking that the design I want is simple enough to not require a computer/large ink jet style anno machine. And perhaps someone with a standard set up and a steady hand could produce the results I'm looking for. To be specific, the logo on the back of the body.
*edit: fx is helping me now, I'll post pics when it's finished.
Let me know what you think/ if anyone is up for the challenge.
Thank you.

After seeing the NYX matrix FXAnnodizing did I think they have the skill to do this.

Deffinatly possible. Best bet i think would be to cut that design into a sticker and use that as the masking agent.

the sticker method works great on gloss. not sure about dust. I've had markers done with tattoo style graphics using this method, where the whole marker is polished, decals applied, and media blasted, so the decal parts remain gloss. The old cobra and joy division angels used this technique.

I've been told it's too small to mask, and FX doesn't do dust finish(at least last I checked).
Thanks tho guys.

Nothing is too small to mask. Some splashes have lines thin as thread. Is your shocker currently dust?

Yes, it's dust now. But it's not even,. Some areas have a machine finish and some spots have been sanded.

Those tattoo angels were cool. After seeing that wierd barbwire pinstriping stickers they sell at autozone i've wondered if thats similar to what they used. Another option might be to have a custom rubber stamp made, apply the masking to that and stamp it

Ouch. That might be kinda rough to get an even texture. Maybe sandblasting or coarse media tumble

Would you be willing to send it off one place to get the finish and another to get annoed, or were you saying FX doesn't anno a dust finish?

That's not a bad idea. But I'd prefer to have it all done by the same guy, especially since the surface prep is one of the biggest parts of anno.

It's a strange nxt shocker. But I've had the frame re-located to be spaced like a luxe.

That is untrue..Splashes something totally different...They are done randomly and are virtually uncontrolled...while masking needs to be controlled tightly.
What you would want done is to small to mask by hand. BUT! Since you chose a clear background, we could probably fill the low spot with masking and wipe the exes off with solvent. That should leave you with the low spots of the logo highlighted in red and the high spots in clear. It wont be exactly what you want, but it would be close! Still pure speculation though.
Just some of my thoughts. Hope that helps.

The point i was trying to convey was that even if a stripe the width of a hair was masked, it would still show. And i disagree, splashes are nothing more than abstract masking.
