Looking at that photo high-res makes me see just how 'unclean' the 7d sensor (or at least mine) is. Even at iso 100 I still have grain in my images, yours is spot on shiny.

I mean, still looks oversharpened to someone who usually uses around 15%; to each their own

What they are lacking is something to really engage the viewer, the photos tell that there was an accident but there is nothing that connects with me as the viewer. Think of it as photos from a basketball game, these are a wide shot of some players standing around during a timeout. Sure you know its a basketball game, but nothing about that would pull me in. Part of what makes a strong image is getting in close, getting people in the frame, getting something that will create and emotional reaction in an image.
I hope that helped somewhat, I know it in my head, but its tough to explain
