steelies for rentals

Hey guys do any of you store or field owners have steelies for cheap? I prefer out of hydro cause that's cheaper, also looking for cheap regs.

I work with Tapeline paintball in Ogden Utah, we specialize in used gear and odd ball stuff.

thanks for looking

I think most fields will service them until the parts are more expensive than buying a new one. I'm not sure how much there is to gain in buying the used ones in rough shape. If you add up the parts, and the cost of shipping.....you may as well just buy them wholesale.

Not after you get the tank rehydroed it isn't.

God help you if you're planning to rent tanks that are out of hydrotest.

Why would you need God's help for that... Isn't the DOT approval of that practice good enough??

If its regulated by DOT and the out of hydro tanks are for field use only and aren't being transported then why is that bad?

I'd assume if you rented out unhydro'd equipment you could be slapped with a fine, have your field shutdown and everything taken from you. Like serving alcohol to minors at a bar.

That assumption would be 100% incorrect.

For tanks at a field, that do not get transported, the only ones that need to have current hydro tests are cylinders that are attached to a fill or bank system. Aside from that, tanks only need hydro tests if transporting under pressure off premises on any road or water ways controlled by the DOT.

How are you going to get them to your field?

That's a good point. I guess ill just hope DOT doesn't catch the tanks when they get shipped. We have in hydro tanks for external rental we just need a few more tanks for internal rental before the season takes off. We are working to get more hydro tanks in the next couple months and just need something to hold us over until then.

You can ship empty out of hydro tanks all day long... If not... how would people get tanks to a hydro facility?? You are driving down the road with an empty, out of hydro tank.

Seems a bit strange that a field can use out of hydro tanks, but players cant use them. Why cant a player bleed the tank and than drive out to the field and refill. Why do we even bother getting them hydroed?

Is this legit? seriously if my tanks never leave my field property I don't have to have current hydro dates? because I was dreading replacing like 20-30 tanks this year, but if I don't have to thats awesome!

Just ask yourself... who isn't letting you use them?

The DOT? They only care about transportation (dept of TRANSPORTATION)
Your insurance company? Check direct with them
Your State government? Most don't have such specific laws

People seem to assume there's "laws" about things that they're aren't laws about.

And on the subject of fields using them but not allowing players to bring their own: liability. I have no idea what you've done to your tanks so why take the risk? My field, I can enforce whatever rules I like (and it's easier this way)

Note the part I put in bold below...

Quote:
(ii) No cylinder required to be retested by paragraph (e)(1)(i) of this section may be
charged or filled with a hazardous material and transported in commerce unless that cylinder has been inspected and retested in accordance with this section and the retester has marked the cylinder by stamping the date of retest, the cylinder retester identification number unless excepted under this section, and any other marking required by this section. No person may mark a test date or a retester identification number on a DOT specification or exemption cylinder unless all applicable requirements of this section have been met.
As far a customers tank, there is no guarantee that they will not transport it after you fill it, in fact, one could argue, that it is inevitable that some filled tanks might leave still under pressure, so that would not be a good idea.

Just play the Canadian Card! Tell us that CTC is totally different than DOT, and we'll be too lazy to look it up!
