New gun

I play rec ball and I got a tippmann 98 for Christmas a few years ago. I was looking into buying an invert mini. A friend of my dads is selling me it for 250 and he's throwing in an electronic hopper and hpa tank for free. I'm not looking into tournament play but should I get the gun for Rec anyway? I really want a better gun because the 98 isn't that great...

I wouldn't say 98 Customs aren't good guns, I played with one for about 2 years and it never gave me a problem. Now my little brother uses it and its never given him a problem either. As for the Mini, I've never personally owned one but I've shot them before and know several people who have them and they are great guns. The biggest thing they complained about on them was not having an on/off asa, but besides that, they shoot smooth and are very light and small. What kind of tank and hopper is he selling with it?

i had an invert mini is was pretty sweet gives you the higher round of fire, eyes, and efficiency, so yea its a good deal for the price if your getting a tank and hopper too

My dad didn't ask so I don't know.): and I know 98s are good but I meant like I would rather have something different.

And why does everyone want an on/off asa so badly? And the on/off asa is a con?

Well if you have the money and want a new gun go for it. It doesn't matter if you play rec ball or not.The gun will be way faster maybe not as accurate but thats nothing a better barrel can fix. Then if you decide you want to play speedball you will be set.I would check the hydrotest date on the tank first cause depending on the date it would influence the purchase.

An on/off asa makes screwing the tank on and off easier and you can turn the air off to the marker without having to take your tank off. I wouldn't say it's a deal breaker by any means, but just something that most mid/higher end guns come with to make life a little easier. You can always put an on/off on though, I think the Axe asa fits on the Mini if I remember correctly

Yes an on/off ASA is important if you travel and play a lot, but it isn't absolutely necessary.

Never had an issue with my mini, except my big hands... I loved the efficiency

Minis are good. I don't like how the trigger feels (I like microswitches more) But it sure beats a 98c

$250 for a new-ish mini, tank , and hopper (What is it, a Halo Too? Rotor?) is an amazing deal. I'd take it even if the tank was out of hydro.
Assuming the mini isn't beat up anyway

Invert Mini or GoG eXTCy, either of the two are great shooters and about the same price, even though youre getting a discount on the mini.

the A5 is the way to go, It's the next step up from a 98. After the A5 then it would be the X7

A mini is a great lil shooter, and that's a good deal for one. The feel of them isn't for everybody though. Be sure to hold it and shoot it before you buy if you can.

Also if you didn't mind staying in the Tippmann line I suggest looking into a Crossover. I own one and it's my fav marker right now. You won't come out as cheap however. Either way though you can't go wrong with a mini plus tank and hopper for that $$.
