I don't understand how BL isn't the top manufacturer on the national circuit... incredible guns, great CS, and the pricing isn't as terrible as the others.

Because BL guns require about 2-3 mins of maintenance and the 45 seconds it takes to maintain an Ego/Geo is even too much to ask of some people. That's why.

I was about to say Planet Eclipse happened.
Id think the G6R should be just as easy to maintain as an Ego, though ive never worked on a G6R

G6R's are tanks and have a bad rep for no reason other than laziness on owner's parts. They require little maintenance and outperform any poppet currently out

This is true. I only lube mine about every month and a half. Doesn't take much work at all.

g6rs shoot incredibly well, but why did four out of 6 of my teammates miss points at cup because of g6rs going down? my gun worked like mule all day. the other gun that worked all day was an ego too. i think thats why they're not the top seller nationally.

FWIW, Bob's guns aren't "huge on the scene" because he doesn't give them away to teams anymore. When he was, circa 2003-2005, an awful lot of teams shot them. There were even a handful without sponsorship deals at the pro level who bought their BL guns.

So those 4 guys had G6R's? If that's the case I guarantee you it was due to lack of maintenance and/or cleaning. Outside of that you need to balance your pressures every month or two or when you clean. If they had problems it was likely through a fault of theirs to be honest. Not trying to be a dick but I have never had a problem with any of the dozen or so G6R's I've personally owned.

they are not top of the market because of marketting, if bob put guns in the hands of dozens of teams like other big name manufacturers, they would be popular. i see just as many egos, geos, luxes, dms, and clones go down as g6rs. anyone who has ever owned a g6r knows that quality and reliability is not the issue.

Youre probably right.. its amazing how lazy so many players are when it comes to cleaning and maintaining their gun. I clean and lube mine after every week I play, not hard to set aside 30 minutes to make sure my gun is functioning properly and shooting great.

Planet eclipse came in and basically showed bob how the intimidator should have been designed and thats when they started seeing so much success. They simplified the design of the intimidator and it took off.
Now bobs got the G6R, a macro-less design that is very similar to the ego, but has the build quality of bob long. I think bob will make a bit of a comeback, but it wont be easy considering the budget of planet eclipse.

Bob Longs guns have gained huge popularity with the G6R. Look at the resale of a g6r compared to an ego 11..

the fade def looks better than the white/red one zach posted.
As for G6r over other guns, it comes down to marketing and word of mouth. I hear more players ( that havnt been around very long, are upgrading from their "decked out" tippmann, or just generally have no knowledge of markers themselves) say that they are gonna get a eclipse marker bc so and so told them they are the best. Or so and so teams are using them... that there is the marketing aspect. Personally if one of those players asks me, Im going ask them questions. Are you looking to spend less? Are you looking for a smoother shooting marker? Are you looking for a quieter marker? Are you looking for efficiency? Are you looking for quality and performance over looks and a gun being built like a AK47? then G6r is the way to go.
Just from my own experience with eclipse markers Ive owned, and others that Ive shot the value just isnt there. They are mediocre at best and dont justify the price. Sure they throw in a case, allens, lube, oring kit and all these other little bell and whistle fancy shmancy type things. All they are doing is inflating the price of those items and adding it to the overall cost. All the ones I owned, I never put those cases in my gearbag and took them to the field. My gearbags have never been large enough to take all my stuff so id usually run a gearbag, and backpack and maybe a plastic bag or 2, or large gearbag, duffle and a backpack. Those cases were just excess, pointless garb.
As far as reliability of the G6r platform? Im upto 27 cases on mine (part swap from stock to techT ram, bolt, pin kit around case 18) Havnt lubed it since taking it out of the box and it still continues to perform. Ive only ever had one issue with it, and that was my ramcap coming loose while playing. I was still able to hold it in place with my thumb and shoot, besides that its been the most flawless gun Ive used in 14 years.

honestly, if they would of been around when it happened. I probably would of however, I follow the rules at the field. That means no tools on the field, only staging/vehicles or team cabins.
I do think those covers were/are a great idea though.
