I think these are some very reasonable laws which have been proven effective in curbing gun violence

we should consider implementing them

Can we make possessing assault hammers illegal?

And meanwhile the U.K. has at least 3x the violent crime rate the U.S. does.

So they're committing violence with other weapons, and as you said yourself they are probably receiving better medical attention so that their death rate is lower.

The point is that you cannot compare the United States directly to another country and say more or less guns equals less or more crime. The U.S. has the highest rate of gun ownership, but a violent crime rate almost a quarter that of the U.K. with nearly no guns. You're preaching for a total ban on guns but have no evidence to support the claim that gun control does or does not reduce crime. The U.S. violent crime and homicide rates have been on a steady decline for over twenty years and it even kept dropping at the same rate after "assault weapons" were legalized in 2004.

oh wait, I'm a legal owner and I dont use my firearms in that manner. I obey the laws. As Most gun owners do.

EDIT: But yeah sure, make us pay.

Okay, but then the same violence is committed with other weaponry and the gun violence which still occurs is committed by people who were not allowed guns in the first place (gangs, cartels, etc).

There are somewhere around 50 firearms in my home and yet no gun crime has occurred. You present a very weak argument and you still do not recognize the legitimacy of the Second Amendment.

How does that have anything to do with my posts?

takes you right back to the less hammers = less hammer crime. more people are killed with hammers and clubs...so banning guns you are doing less good than by not banning hammers and clubs.

probably better ban tobacco and alcohol and prescription medicine and hospitals and drunk driving cause those all kill more people than guns.

Hey, look! Random numbers with no context! Let's take it all in as fact!

You would be wise to read this:

His argument is simply that a reduction in gun availability will reduce gun violence. He isn't concerned with lowering all other violence, only the use of tools, in this case guns, that are used in violent acts. I'm sure he's interested in lowering all violence but I don't think that is his goal here.

You are concerned with violence in total, fatal or not. It's painful to watch you two argue past each other. LtK is presenting a reasonable position to achieve his goals, goals that neither you or I agree with because we are both more concerned with violent(malicious) acts.
