wat
If he has a dual 4ohm L7 he can't wire it to 1ohm.

i didn't read the whole thread, only the last few posts? Has he already bought the sub? If so then he's ****ed. I mean, running @2ohm will be fine, but it just doesnt make sense on a budget build

I'm guessing he either already has it or is getting a good deal on one

i've had the l7 for ~2years. only reason its wired at 2 ohm is cause my last amp couldn't handle 1 ohm stable. I can re-wire it no problem i just want a decently reliable amp that'll push it relatively good, i'm just a r tard when it comes to picking the right combo. and to supra its in some ridiculously sloppy superbass pro box that i got with it when i bought it

If it's wired for 2ohm right now, it's a dual-4ohm sub. You can't wire that to a 1ohm load.
Anyway either that hifonics or mb quart amp should be fine

It's buggin the **** out of me. I know for a fact that I'm sending a distorted-as-**** signal to the sub and I cannot do anything to help it.

I have the Pioneer DEH-p5000ub. Is that one of them? With my old one, the DEH-4000, I had the same problem.

I don't remember all of them. I had one a few years back. I did the quick fix until a replace it by grounding the ore outs to the chassis of the head unit.

What does that mean? I'm not that familiar with Car Audio language anymore.

The place on the head unit where you plug the RCAs in. Get a wire, strip enough off so you can wrap it around the RCA connectors, and ground the other side.

I will see about doing that. I think I might have some speaker wire lying around somewhere. I'll report back to you guys tomorrow.
Could that be related to the problem I have with turning the gain up more than 1/4 of the way though? Even when the volume's at 0 and my truck is off.

If the amp is making any noise at all without the remote wire having +12v, something's messed up with either your wiring or the amp.

holy hell its been a while since ive been in here.
anyways, after i get back from deployment im gonna be in the market for a car. i know from past experiences that some cars can be a total ***** to do any type of aftermarket stereo, and some cars are a total breeze.
so, my question to you all is, what vehicles are the "best" to do installs on?
this includes new HU, component speakers in the doors and like a 12" or a 15".

Depends on what type of vehicle you want.
A lot of the newer high-end stuff uses fiber optic interfaces, which is a ***** to work with. If you have money to toss around, though, something like an Audison BitTen can make pretty much anything workable.

Dunno about anyone else in here but if I was to buy a car for 6-7k I'd probably try and find an Impreza or something similar. Audio on those things is dead simple.
Edit: How much newer?

like 2000 and newer, but if i can find something in the 90's in good condition that i like id go for it.
for a while i was gonna get something sporty, but i decided id rather have a cruiser and spend copious amounts of money on the audio

Ahh, yeah. You could easily find an Impreza, like an 03 or 04, maybe even newer. Or a Legacy or Accord. All of them should be really reliable and super easy to put a system in.
