From what I've read, 1k for a SA8 is pretty much pushing it to its limits. Sure people can and have done it, but its not the safest or most reliable idea

Pretty great. It still only has 4 gauge inputs though.

This install is almost done. My cleanest install so far. All that's left to do is run power and ground wires, then cut holes for ports.

So im currently running 2 15" L7's in a box that is 3'^3 per sub and I want to step it up to 4 of them. im currently running a kicker zx2500.1 amp to them, 2 stinger spv44 batteries, and a kicker dx400.4 to my 6.5's and tweeters. If I step up to the 4 15" L7 Im going to use a common air space box, im thinking 18'^3 box which is 4.5'^3 per sub and if one was to blow for any reason, the other 3 would still be running, off 6'^3 each which is the recommended max space. If I added the 2 extra subs, I would run the 2 new ones off a 2nd zx2500.1, how many more of those batteries should I add to run this if I do it, and how many alt's would you recommend? thebox would be a 32 hz tune, any advice welcome.

soo... my inline fuse blows as soon as a complete circuit is made. when the B+ is off of the amp, i read 13.6v right before the amp. as soon as the amp is connected the fuse blows, keys not even in the ignition. is it possible for the amp to short to ground internally?

Open the ***** up and look at it. A short should be pretty obvious to see on the board if its blowing your fuse right away. Have you tried another amp?

"Head unit power will be fine for a tweeter you don't even need to amp it"
And then I toasted one with an amp.
Whoops.
It was good while it lasted.

I finally got around to fixing the mess i made out of an A-pillar. I took the passenger one out like two years ago and ****ted it up with fiberglass crap. Finally sanded it down and wrapped it in suede. Looks good, man. Anyone else wrap their interior bits?

i took it apart, noticed what looked to be like burn marks on the backside. couldn't figure out how to take the board assembly out to see the front but I assume its probably ****ed. I'm pretty good with body electrical but this was honestly the first amp i've ever had apart. its a super old 1000w audiofonics so it might have finally just gave out.

Just because the B+ is showing a normal voltage before you connect it, does not mean your amplifier is shorting internally. It simply means there's a short somewhere in the system. I would start by checking your ground and making sure it's nice and solid to bare metal somewhere on the vehicle chassis. Next, check and make sure your power wire isn't frayed anywhere (double check where you ran it through the firewall and in the engine bay). Last, check to make sure it's not somehow touching any of the metal on the amplifier around the connection (or any of the other wires in that area).

Probably. Despite the title of the thread, my only attempt to fix an amp was a horrible fail. I don't know what I'm doing, but i can pretty safely say its ****ed.

I got my **** at like $9/yd. pretty cheap if you ask me. I'd take some pics but the camera on my iphone is ****ed for some reason, and the closest apple store is like 45 min.

I don't remember what I paid for mine, but I'm sure it was more than that. It's super nice though. Been thinking about suede'ing my next box.

Hey guys, I am looking into getting a small sub and amp, but still want powerful sound. Do you guys have any recommendations? I want an 8", but I know the SA-8 V2's are expensive.

Ayyy everybody, I know you're probably sick of my ?'s but I have one more teeny tiny one about speakers. If I get a component system of 6.5's in my front doors, I can just get a 2midrange 6x9's in my back doors, b/c I already have two tweeters right?

Yes... yes they are. I am yet to find out if it's worth it. The box isn't even built yet.
