yeep i really wanted to do 4 8'' TB's but they raised the prices on them so 4 is a bit expensive. If i can't find any amazing deals on a couple 8w7's then i'll definitely be getting a pair of SA8's. Virtually everything i've read on them has been that they're a great all around driver

Seems like it. The TB 8's slam from what I've seen Ray West do with them.

Lanzar MAX8 actually looks to be a pretty decent little driver. I can get 4 of them shipped for under $130. That's extremely tempting

DD CM1000, DC1.2k, or Sundown SAE1200? All pretty much the same price. The DD is brand new. I'm leaning towards the DD. Itll only be running one SA-8 v2

Extremely tempted to try it for a home audio sub...
EDIT: Vin, why buy an expensive amp if all you're going to do is run one SA-8? AP15001D will be more than enough for it and at a much lower price point.

hey guys found a local IDMAX v3 for 275 used for "a few minutes". "still has blue plastic on motor" Not sure if 100% true, but I still think it'd be a good buy. Think I should pounce on it? With a new headunit and mono amp (800rms probs) I think I'd be pretty well off

Well, I'm back guys. I'll be buying box materials tomorrow and starting on the box hopefully, too. Plans are for a single DC lvl 3 15 on 1500 watts. (Thanks, Vin.) It's been entirely too long since I've had a system so I've forgotten what to expect from a single 15 on 1000ish watts.
Pics will be abundant.

And I don't know, nice clean power? I don't want to blow the thing. I want to hit it with clean power, and a lot of it. Plus, all those amps are only $200. an AP would be 150?

Have fun man. That stuff all in good condition. and I babied that sub. It was lucky to get 1k. I probably never even gave it that much. Low gain and low HU settings.

Whatever floats your boat. I'm using two SA8-v2's on the 15001D and it has worked great for me so far.
And I've decided to do an extremely budget build for a subwoofer for my computer sound system instead of that Dayton HO. I messed around with a couple Goldwood GW-406D subwoofers with my Jeep (before the SA8's), so I have a couple of those lying around. They're $15 subs but sounded fine in my Jeep and should do find for what I want them to here. Ordered the Dayton 25w plate amp from parts-express and I'm looking at box designs right now.
I do have one question though... everytime I model these particular woofers in WinISD, it suggests a 2cu/ft enclosure PER subwoofer (tuned to around 38hz). That size seems absolutely ridiculous considering they're only 6.5" subwoofers. Would there be a drawback to me making this enclosure so large, or will I be fine?
Link to subwoofer for reference

EDIT: Their frequency response is only down to 59hz. I might just throw them in a sealed box until I can get another decent subwoofer to replace them.

And after looking at tests on the sa8s, It doesn't look like one would survive 1k all day. What sub would be pushed hard at 1k? I want something smaller than 12" preferably.

SA8 v2 would be fine on 1k IMO. Mine are running around 750 a piece and seem like they would be fine with more. Wouldn't try it on a v1 though. Also, 2 v2s on 1k would be perfect.

How's it feel to own an amp that isn't audiopipe?
From what I've read, 1k for a SA8 is pretty much pushing it to its limits. Sure people can and have done it, but its not the safest or most reliable idea
