I found out I'm getting a decent chunk back from taxes.
so either I'm going to get a MIJ SLSMG, or the Jim Root tele.
Decisions, decisions.

I'm slowly working on it. This one wasn't too bad for a Squier, I'm thinking new pups and a paint job. Should really be all it needs. Maybe a better bridge.
Edit: A thought occurs... I think I have a way to make the Squier neck work. I know where the bridge would have to sit in order for it to intonate, which is behind the current milling. What I can do it find a non-trem top loading bridge and bolt it onto the proper location. Now to check string spacings on my spare pups and the bridge.

Thanks, the 456 is actually one I was looking at, but after seeing the need to rout the body, I'm not sure if there's enough space to do that on the Warlock. To get the proper scale length, the bridge needs to move completely to the back of the current routing. That leaves less than 2" to the edge of the body. The 475 would hang off as well... I may have to custom make something.
Can anyone confirm the string spacing on a Squier Affinity Strat? I've seen it listed at 2 1/16" but I just want to make sure.
edit: I may take the body down to a local shop and see what they say

you could just get a block of wood, and glue it into the trem cavity.

That could work too. But I kinda want to leave it open, I was thinking about putting LEDs in it
Even with the current cavity filled, the bridge would have to sit in the same position, the only advantage filling it would give me is having somewhere to anchor the bridge.

Don't put LED's in it. That's gay.

Go the Michael Hampton route and go with 3 humbuckers (Strat).
New guitar on the way. Now I have to decide whether it's worth having the necessary work done to my Schecter. They're cheap enough that I could just buy a new one, but I really like this one

I know, I'd love to own one. He's done all kinds of crazy paint jobs, he's a true artist. I love how he doesn't try to BS anything by using sticker labels, even though he doesn't sell them.

The more I look into it, the easier building a guitar looks.
I think I'm going to try my hand at this ****. Maybe just buy a neck from Warmoth, but I could totally cut/route/shape/paint a body.

It's a dude's signature model, the **** do I care?
Besides, I'm not going to have an amp for a long *** time, not like it's going to matter what pickups are in it.

Guitar came. Took off working today so I'd be home to sign ^.^
It's like playing a completely different instrument. Ultra thin maple neck that's a little wider than a normal fretboard, fret spacing is larger, back to 10s instead of 11s, tuning stays rock solid despite diving completely slack to stiff pullups, and I've never touched a guitar with such low action, no buzz, and perfect intonation (excellent setup by Rich at Ibanezrules). I have to say, having fine tuners on the bridge is much more convenient and precise than using headstock tuners. The 10s are definitely going to take some getting used to, it's harder to pick fast since they aren't nearly as stiff as 11s.
This is also the first time I've touched D'Addario strings in years.

Not a valid excuse. They're still EMG's in a tele. Completely defeats the purpose of that guitar.

Now this... this is okay. But nothing will stop the image of a Tele with EMG's. Eww.

It's like a Victoria's Secret model with a prosthetic arm.

Not if you want a Tele with a little extra muscle . I can't stand the look of EMGs though, they would have to sound in-****ing-credible to see past the grossness. The white/black softens the blow a little bit, but it's still two black buckers in a Telecaster.

If I wanted extra muscle, I would... not buy a Tele.
