New Guy
I've been wanting to play for forever! But none of my friends ever seemed interested... So i never got into paintball. But eventually i got over my stupid fear of being around alot of people i don't and decided to just get up and go! There is a local shop, they do monthly events, and everyone seems super chill, so i am def looking forward to it!
I went out to pick up some gear, as i didn't want to use rentals. This is what i ended up with!
Empire Mini - Copper and black
eFlex Mask, in olive green!
Halo Too Hopper
Ninja tank
and some knee pads.. haha dont judge my sensitive knees!
I would have to say my biggest question would be, what kind of paint would you suggest i shoot? Been doing my research, but also any tips for after use cleaning and maintaining the gun would be awesome!
I'm from socal, and looking to get into Rec/woodsball and scenarios! So if anyone knows of anyone looking for people to fill, or play... i would be more than happy! Granted, I'm new... hopefully that won't hinder me to much!

Shoot whatever the field provide, the better the quality the better the paint will be.
As for cleaning and maintaining, download and read the owners manual for your marker.

If you get a mini, I'd suggest to look into a new barrel the second you have the chance.
An incredibly cost effective and fail proof option would be a .684 and .678 lurker Eigenbarrel.
Aside from that, I know a lot fo people like myself have problems with the mini trigger as it's so close to the frame; companies like Violent and Critical sell triggers which are of solid quality and inexpensive for the Mini.
Avoid CP triggers.
Blargh.

yo
I started this year too!! just decided to get up and go. I started off with a tippmann a5 and then won a etha. i tried a bunch of different paint getting the 500-1000 round boxes and pretty much the more you pay for paint the better quality you get.i tried walmart paint field paint and paintball shop paint. and the best one was valken grafity. aiming was consistent so i was able to use less paint.worst paint dxs basic training from paintball field. barrel breaks clogged barrels and curved shots. walmat paint was hit or miss.. i got a good and bad boxes.

Love my mini, get a barrel, replace the trigger. I okay a Custom Products Rake trigger without any issues. I like a deadly wind fiber barrel with freak inserts. The Boss bolt has the least recoil.
Go or and play and enjoy shooting the mini.

First of all.......congrats on learning one of life's important lessons. That lesson is: Following, or in this case waiting, for the crowd gets you nowhere. Take the lead and you'll be much happier.
That being said.....all the other advice here has been great. Have fun

Barrel barrel barrel, I love furious barrels, amazing and low cost. Then try the Relay On/Off.

Glad you got an eflex mask. They are great AND the most important thing you have. Always keep it on while on the field. Best rule out there is barrel socks off then goggles are on and if barrel socks are on you can take your mask off

Thanks guys! Hopefully people on the field are just as friendly! So far seems everyone has been awesome! Unlike some sports which are just filled with D-bags!

I'm sure there are, those kinds of people are everywhere... But for the most part everyone (esp at the shop) has been super chill, and more than willing to help out a new player. Accepting with open arms! Kinda cool.

I've been playing for 7 years now, with one season of tourney ball under my belt. My teammates are like my brothers. Paintball creates such a strong bond with whoever you're playing with. Welcome!

Id look into an empire relay. that will prolong your tank's threads. You can find used ones once and a while on this site used for 50-65 bucks

I'm also from So-Cal and starting to get back into paintball. Its a really fun sport man your friends are missing out! Just try to socialize with local players because we are all friends and always lookikg out for new players. Paintball continues to grow and is still not getting the recognition it deserves. Have fun and play safe

Paint that I have had great success with, Valken Redemtion, RPS Premium, and RPS Marbilizers, and for lower priced option the XO V1 that I have used was suprisingly good. You want to ruin a good day of paintball buy crap paint.
