South Dakota player killed.
A South Dakota town is mourning the death of a teen shot dead after a paintball game. Dalton Williams is dead after allegedly being killed by a friend after they argued over a past match. While the alleged shooter is only 16, he is charged as an adult for first-degree murder in the paintball shooting. As gun control debates begin over the violence in Sandy Hook, another child is dead.
On Dec. 19, Huffington Post shared details of the South Dakota shooting in Pierre, which adds another layer to the recent hot-button discussions on gun violence in America. Sadly, a teen was shot and killed over a paintball game, of all things.
According to reports, Williams and the alleged shooter, Braiden McCahren, also 16, were in Pierre at McCahren's home when they began arguing over a past game of paintball.

A witness, only listed in the paintball shooting incident as "TY," told police the two started to play-wrestle at some point. Moments later, McCahren left the kitchen, returned a short time later with a semi-automatic shotgun and pointed it at him.
"TY" said he heard a click, signaling the shotgun was not loaded, but McCahren took a shell out of a nearby drawer and load it in the weapon. Again, there was another click.
At this point, according to the affidavit, "TY" said he became afraid and was attempting to leave the home through a sliding-glass door when he heard another shot and saw a splatter.
A 911 call was made after the South Dakota paintball shooting incident. Paramedics raced Dalton Williams to a nearby hospital. However, he died a short time later.
After the teen was shot dead after a paintball game, police arrested McCahren and charged him in the killing of the Riggs High School sophomore.
As Newtown funerals get underway after the shooting rampage in Connecticut at Sandy Hook Elementary by Adama Lanza, the last thing this country needs to hear about is the death of another kid.

This sickens me but I think we should do something to help the family of the slain teen out. John can we get PbN to do a fundraiser for his family?

The worst part of it for the image of the sport is that they keep calling it a paintball shooting. It wasn't a paintball shooting, it was a shooting that may or may not have been over a paintball game, and based on previous issues with the media (*cough* James Holmes *Cough*) they'll link it to paintball even if they just played it.
It's sickening to know that somebody would murder over something so pointless as a damn paintball game if that is the case, almost as much as it sickens me to know someone would murder their own damn friend.

You never posted a link or credited the source. Not to mention the fact that you could potentially run into issues for not crediting the source, but if there are any updates they'll most likely be there. Makes it awfully convenient for others on PBN to find up-to-date information (or at least an easy path to it).

this is proof its not a gun problem, its a mental illness/parenting problem. if he didn't have a gun then he would have had a knife, if no knife then a baseball bat, and the list goes on.

Sure. Then we should also run a fundraiser for the family of a friend of mine, because he was t-boned by semi while driving home from a paintball field.

A tangential connection to paintball doesn't warrant a fundraiser any more than any other death or killing.

If guns are the reason for these types of things happening, my pencil is responsible for me not doing good on my exams.

I don't see anything in the story to suggest the shooter was mentally ill. Bad parenting I can agree with but mental illness?

This is a sad statement. When I started in this game there wouldn't have been a second thought about helping the family.

If it was bad parenting that led to that, a lack of mental integrity counts as mental illness, so basically one and the same.

You see, the thing is that it's only because he was murdered and has a link to paintball that you want to help. If he was just murdered, you probably wouldn't have even heard of it and wouldn't have suggested helping them.

1) Mental illness is one thing. A lack of morals does not mean there is a lack of mental integrity or mental illness. If mental illness was a factor he will be let off the hook and put into custody of a mental institution for treatment. I'm guessing that won't happen.
2) Your right I have lived around murder my whole life so while I've grown callus to it it doesn't mean that if I see someone who I feel I want to help that I can't ask others to do the same. Unfortunately I can't fund raise for the families of every murder victim but If I see one I think I can legitly help I'm not going to sit silently and not ask others to help too. Yes it is because this is a fellow paintballer I want to help. And no if this wasn't a paintballer I wouldn't have heard about it because my wife would have just seen another murder happened and wouldn't have thought twice about telling me about it. I'm not sure I understand what the problem is.
