Come now, that argument is a straw man, and doesn't have that much to do with this particular event. Would Dalton Williams, in a room full of friends, be dead right now if he was attacked with a kitchen knife? It's a crime of passion, his attacker wasn't going to go and buy explosives, or wait and try to hit him with his car. He went to grab the nearest deadly weapon. One shot from a shotgun was all it took. If that was knife, Dalton Williams might be in the hospital. Now his poor parents are planning a funeral, and dealing with an immeasurable loss.
The conversation isn't about banning firearms, it's about how we can make sure that people aren't so able to reach for them in the heat of an argument, or acquire many when they plan something terrible.
You are right, people DO kill people, the access to firearms just makes it a lot quicker and easier.
RIP Dalton Williams.
