I'd check out the ski resorts. Theres also a lot of really cool glacier tours as well as adventure ice hikes. If you're into that sort of thing.

Ocala is a lot like where I live. A nice place to live, but not to vacation to. Nothing to do there. But it's a nice sized town a few hours away from a few cities, somewhat close to the beach, a decent economy, etc.
I know very close is one of the best areas in the world for horses. I forget the name of the town. Taking backroads down to Orlando instead of I10/I4 is quite enjoyable and you'll see these sort of towns.
Orlando area has so much **** to do it's not even funny. I don't even know where to begin. What do you like to do?

Looking for cool beaches that nobody really knows of unlike Miami and Daytona, bars, casinos, historic sites, concerts or events going on, street parties, really good food recommendation like hibachi or steakhouses.
BTW, again, I am from OHIO. So cruising through Tampa or Miami in this might not be the popular idea.

I drove my truck through Toledo last summer and saw one big truck throughout that weekend, and the kid waved at me like we were best friends because I was "one of his kind". Anyone know of any motocross tracks to ride at in FL? I thought about stopping at NCMP in North/South Carolina on the way home. I wonder if there is any dirty track racing going on down there right now too.

Out of 100 people who come to Florida for vacation, I bet less than 1 goes to Daytona.
You could spend a week there with **** to do.
Want something original? The same beachline as Daytona, but like 15 minutes down the beach, is New Smyrna beach. Just as cool, just as much ****, but so much less touristy. Everyone there lives in the area pretty much. Find people there, they can tell you what's worth doing. North Orlando area is just plain kickass. Honestly. The Azalea Trail in Orlando is pretty cool to see. The old abandoned theme park is a cool visit (but not legal). Clearwater beach is warm (unlike Daytona and New Smyrna) and is that awesome island with young people and tons to do but it's always super busy.
Miami is a blast for obvious reasons as well.
Edit:
Dirt track, really? Yes, there's a good track in New Smyrna but that stuff is weak. I do know a hot girl who races, though... There are multiple motocross areas. However, you're best off finding some old places that were cleared for construction but were never built on. There are tons around South Orlando. Fun to get out in in an AWD car/truck/atc/motorcycle. Thousands and thousands of acres for that ****.

Thanks
and
I ride dirt bikes for fun on tracks, but I race sprint cars. My series comes to Ocala and Barberville in February but I wondered if there were any local races running all year round. Thought about maybe taking the bike down to ride a bit.

North Florida is a horrible place after living there for 17 years.

In my hometown in north florida they have mud boggs if that counts as a dirt track.

Dunno about north florida but in south florida riding is pretty much dead. All the tracks went to **** or shut down. If your into riding Id suggest you check out croom motorcycle park and ocala national forest. Its an awesome trip if you camp out.

I haven't been to Florida since 1989, I've got a bunch of family in the south. I should visit soon.

If your going to Ocala you won't be very far from Wayne's World of Paint. That's about as good as it gets in north Florida.
