I sold my 08 yaris over the winter due to a drastic decrease in income. The wife and I have a landscaping business and relied on plowing over the winter.. New England weather threw us a curveball with a nearly snowless winter. So in hopes to free up income and make life a little easier we sold the yaris to get rid of the payment and insurance fees. Paid $1000 for this cabby and love driving it.

just needs a few more little tweaks. I've recently taken to airbrushing and am trying to decide what i want to do to the car. Its probably either going to be a zombie theme or a pirate theme. For the time being i did the bloody door cards.. which was the start of the zombie theme.. but now i'm not sure what i want to do lol

Added OEM Cabriolet Emblem
Fabricated Front and Rear Bumpers

Added two Blinkers to Front Bumper
4 New Tires (General RT) and Added 4 refinished VW Rims

Replaced Both Outer Tierod ends
Added Hood Prop and Painted front bumper
Replaced Clutch Cable
Replaced Speedo Cable and gear
Installed Aftermarket Pioneer CD Head Unit
Fixed Pesky Brake light that wouldnt turn off
Installed Shift Linkage Rebuild Kit
Installed Pass Side front Wheel bearing
Custom "Bloody" Door Cards
Rewired Tail Lights to run off License Plate Circuit
Minor Bondo Work to shave clipper kit mounting holes and smooth rear drivers corner
Patched Small Hole in Floor
Installed front 4/6 Sony Door speakers
Installed 10" Woofer w/generic 200w amp w/ New Rear Deck Cover
Replaced All Seats with White Leather Seats
Replaced Ash Tray

Current Issues:
Shift Linkage needs adjusting, hard to find 1st and 2nd
Odometer Doesnt work
Heat vent selector damaged . have to hand turn to defrost or front (all that works)
Heat Fan Speed only works on Speed 3
Tiny Leak on drivers side window (top seal)
Tiny leak on rear window (drips on top deck)
Needs new Trunk Strut

Future plans:
Bright Red Carpet,
Black Floor mats
Femur Shift rod/Knob
paint Exterior (thinking gloss olive and gloss black)

Looks like ***. shift linkage is probably just off a tooth, loosen the bolt at the end of the rod underneath and rotate a notch

yeah I plan to .. the car is too low for a jack .. and i dont have a jack right now low enough to get it onto the hydro jack i have. lol

i've learned to live it for now. The car gets a ton of attention being all ratty. I purposely used different color paint when working on the body work. lol

I hate adjusting the linkage.

PS, drive on something, like a 2x4 to give enough clearance to get a jack under it.

I have a friend who does most of my work on the car. the kid is a VW animal. has a sweet 83 rabbit track car and a nice slammed mk3 jetta. and a GTI in a million pieces in his garage lol.


i'll have him do it eventually. unless i get ambitious one day. I trade mowing for wrench time with him.

Well my original idea was to do that.. and do blood all over the seats too.

I am going to have a resin femur drilled and cored to replace the shift knob. so i have a leg bone sticking out of the floor to shift with.

then i had a sweet idea today to do it pirate themed and get a sweet wooden boat steering wheel for it..

i'll prolly still go zombie with it though and then do the exterior a little more brutal

You always carry a spare clutch cable in cable clutch cars. Car looks like ****, at least the "system" is reasonable.

system sounds pretty good. its a Polk 10" powered by a random radioshack amp. I traded some tools i wasnt using for the setup.

Once i finally decide what i want to do as far as painting the exterior i'll tighten the look of the car up.. I want to get a new carpet but dont want it to clash with whatever i decide to use for paint.

there are way too many options. lol

Honestly? I really don't think it looks all that horrible.

For some reason that matte green actually works on the car.

I bet it's a blast to drive for <100hp

yeah its a peppy car. doesnt weigh anything so its really fun to drive. I cant wait to get the linkage squared away so i play a little more on my take offs

Hell yeah. Yaris was 300 a month plus 70 ins. Till july 2015

Way cheaper. Only put like 600 into the car including the 300 i spent on rubber

older cars with a large parts market can be just as reliable and get better mileage than an 08 grocery getter.
