Tired of tank butts

Has anyone ever tried putting rhino liner or something similar on the butt of a tank? I remember at onetime someone made something called grippers? Or something like that for tanks although I think you had to purchase the tank with it already applied. I'm tired of these rubber tank butts as they are always spinning or coming off

back in my day we had things called tank covers. they didnt spin, they protected our tanks and they had textured backs that prevented slipping.

but if you insist on sand paper and truck liner then good luck, im pretty sure textured tanks have been discontinued. you could always just buy skateboard grip tape

Problem is, you would have to take the Rhino liner off when you went to play. Fields have to not only check the hydro date, but visually inspect the tank for cracks and such.

This.

I've been using it on every single tank I've ever owned since I've started playing paintball, and when I've borrowed a bare tank it's just amazing to see the amount of difference that the hockey tape actually makes. You don't have to cover the entire bottom of the tank, but more like a * shape with a single piece around the circumference of the tank to hold the tape on.

I like my tank cover, keeps my tank protected and from slipping.

But I have seen people using hockey tape, which seems to work good.

I use a tank cover! Not all fields check! Tank cover gives protection and grip!

If you're going to use a tape use Ninja or Virtue grip tape. The adhesive is meant for use in the sport and isn't going to run the risk of ripping off your gel coat.

You do realize the ninja tape is the same **** as any generic hockey tape right?

Are ninja tape or hockey tape any different from athletic tape?

I think athletic tape still has an adhesive on it. Hockey tape or grip tape (stuff ninja & virtue use) isn't exactly adhesive, it's more tacky, like it sticks mostly by friction rather than adhesion. When you use it, you have to make sure it wraps around and sticks to itself, otherwise it just peels off.

I use a old empire 68 one and it works awesome, the empire logos prevent the slipping as they are rubber sticking out.. Also padded in areas that i dont mind laying down on debris.

3M makes a rubberized spray that you can apply just like spray paint. Perhaps buying a can, and spraying it yourself will help? Just make sure your local field will allow the tank to be sprayed. Maybe mask off just the butt end of it?

Something that no one has said yet is Ninja is making a "dura tank" and its not the typical candy coating. its got some texture to the tank.

First off the spray adhesive. This was mentioned recently, no one seems to know if the spray on stuffs adhesive will react poorly with the gel coat. Secondly, some fields may not care to visually inspect a tank and check the hydro date, but for those that do, a person would have to remove the liner before getting the tank filled, which defeats the purpose of using something like this. Unless you plan on having the field check everything the day before, and then spray it and let it cure overnight?

I have not felt the Dura tank, but from what I've read its not rough like it looks?

I've handled them in person. GREAT tank coating, but certainly not rough. More like a matt finish on a smooth-painted wall? It'll have some addtional friction, but most likely not enough to stop slipping.

I suggest any number of covers available. What size tank are you using?

That. I cringe when I see how beat up some tanks in the BST are from people trying to be agg and running a bare tank into rocks/bunker stakes/hard dirt. Maybe I'm just paranoid but I'd rather not be chipping chunks of my tank that is holding 4500 psi right next to my face off if I can help it even if it is just the surface coat.
