If you're taping out the rain, I'd say just electrical tape would be fine.

Mostly cus I usually use this one Dye Ul. But this past weekend I had an issue for the first time of paint being too big for the bore and I chopped all day. So I want to just begin using the SL kit but i've been too afraid of wearing down the anno on the tip.

Then just use any type of tape really, then residue can be removed later if any is left with a little goo gone.

I would just buy a cheap used tip if that was your concern. Just throwing out another option.

Yeah, tape won't stop the wear. Get another tip, or another barrel. Grab a cap one piece for cheap, so on the of day the ul is too small you'll have a backup.

I put a piece of heat shrink tubing on the end of my Luxe and DM12 barrels then melted it down. Holds awesome and leaves no residue when removed.

I used grip tape on the back of my barrel cause when I'm in full sprint I grib it and it helps when I have to tighten it a bit during play. I also put some on my tip and kind of folded in the portion hanging over the edge that way it slows down tip wear, at some point I will have to change the tape. It doesn't fold all the way into the barrel it stop right at the rim so it doesn't affect accuracy.

Go to my sig you can see the critical 100g with the taping done to it. This will NOT STOP tip wear but it will make tolerable or not even noticeable.

Most people use either hockey tape or sports tape.
