sly lens cracked...

like the title says, my sly lens is cracked. i got it about two months ago and just last week i got hit right above the nose and it cracked. thankfuly, it was only the front pane and not both. i have contacted valken and they have been giving me a hard time about it so i figured posting this would help me get at least a refund. pics below:





this was at X-factor paintball park with valken fate paint at about 280 FPS. the ball broke too.

valken, seriously wtf?? That's so dangerous! They should be bending over backwards for you with a crack that bad. When I saw the title I assumed it was only a chip... but that indeed is an unacceptable crack! :S

If its outside their warranty window, then they have the right to not warranty the lens outside the timeframe they state.
If you purchase a replacement lens directly from them then send them your cracked lens with a copy of your receipt for your replacement lens and a letter stating for safety reason could they QC their lens's, this one cracked under normal usage and I replaced it but definitely dont want balls flying into my face through shattered plastic. Thanks. You would probably garner not only the respect of the decision maker at valkyn as a stand up individual with a valid concern and who knows what else but maybe they would make a greater effort to compensate you, maybe, obviously they don't have to.

Just my 2 cents, I have no idea if your mask is under a warranty or not. If its not, that would be the route I would take.

A copy of your receipt for the new replacement lens along with the old lens you are replacing with an explanation of your concerns regarding the lens.

My bet is that the original mask and lens are warrantied against manufacturers defects. So if it arrived with a cracked lens then you could have returned with the receipt and in unused condition. But once it gets used and is hit by paint, all bets are off as far as warranty. The manufacturer no longer has control of what is happening and under what conditions.

The part that makes me angry is that they failed to even say sorry to me. They should think about what might have happened if it was two or three that had hit, could it have broken through the second pane? Have they thought about what situation they could be in if the shell of the ball hit my eye? That's what gets me frustrated and angry. I have nothing against them at all and have trusted them with my goggle system for a couple of years now.

lenses break, sorry it had to happen in 2 months. every mask i've owned from a proflex to a dye i3 has eventually had the lens break. If its not under warranty buy a new lens
