Honestly, I just want people to have to take mental evaluations, and have them re-newed every 5 years if trying to purchase a gun

In principle, I don't have a problem with those. I question whether the registration and background checks are constitutional. Regardless, how would those have stopped what happened at Sandy Hook?

I don't think we should limit this discussion to only the latest incident. These have pretty much been my stances forever. We can't prevent all of them, but we can try to bring the numbers down by fixing some flawed systems. For Sandy hook specifically, the added funding for public schools could be used to hire an additional armed security guard, or other security enhancements. I'm not opposed to that, I just don't want teachers bringing their own guns into their classrooms. But again, you don't have to agree with me on these things. I just want to know what people on the right think of my description of their proposal.

Was my earlier post something you guys would support?

And when it comes to ar15's/ak varients, 30 round magazines are not high capacity. They are standard. So your calling for no 100+ round drum mags right? Or can we not have standard magazines either?
