Regulator Leaking

After some research I already have found that I have the dreaded PMI nipple leak disease! Terrible thing to have. What I cant find is if it's possible to rebuild the reg that I have. All information I find online references a regulator that has set screws on the bonnet. Mine only has two burst disks, the nipple, and a small pin hole through the side of the bonnet. Any ideas if this one is salvageable? I'm trying as you read this to find a picture online of my reg and I cant seem to locate one.

Have you taken the nipple off to see what the oring looks like? Sadly that style reg is a little harder to work on but with some work that bonnet will unscrew.

I tried spinning the bonnet off but I believe its glued on o.O.

No I haven't taken off the nipple yet. what is it I'm looking for? Is that oring all I need?

If the fill nipple is leaking chances are it's the fill nipple o-ring underneath the fill nipple that is bad and would need replacing. Worst case you have to change the entire fill nipple but that's only a couple dollars.
Make sure your tank is empty before doing any servicing.

I made certain that I was able to press the pin on the top with my finger before messing with it. That is how I check all my CO2 tanks to see if they are empty.

Is there a particular type of ring I should look for? Harder, softer, better material?

You should just replace it with what ever is in there. Generally urethane will last longer over buna as urethane is harder but it may not give the seal you may need. What makes the o-ring go is usually dirt/debris getting blown in during a fill if the compressors filters aren't up to par; that's assuming their are filters in some cases. It doesn't take much to cause a leak sometimes. Same thing on the shuttle valve seals. So if the o-ring doesn't solve the issue you'll need a new fill nipple, which isn't a huge issue either.

So I disassembled the fill nipple and sure enough the oring in there was shot. infact it fell to pieces when I touched it. So after a trip to Autozone that issue was resolved.

Now after starting to fill it up it began leaking from the pin hole on the side of the regulator. Now I know I must remove the bonnet but I cannot seem to figure out how to separate it.

It unscrews from the bottom half. Make sure the tank is empty.

Is there any chance that it could be reverse threads? if not Im well convinced this thing is glued on.

If it doesn't have set screws to help it stay on it very well could be sealed and/or reverse threaded.

it's a *****, but just unscrews. Make sure you remove the air. You'll need a new piston oring.

i haven't messed with it yet as I don't exactly have the tools to get the thing off. was waiting to get a strap wrench or something like that. less someone really believes there is another effective way.
