Who is going to see the midnight release tonight? I know I'm going with my friends, and we're going to try and find LOTR costumes before we go (). From the trailer, it seems like a great movie, and I'm planning on reading the book sometime or another. Also, in the trailer, what is the name of the song that they all sing in Bilbo's house?

Thank you! God, that song makes me want to go on some kind of adventure. Their voices remind me of Gregorian chant and the lyrics are so wistful and strong.

Everyone should read the book. It's very short and an amazing read. I've read it 3 or 4 times now.

And I knew it was going to be like that Raiden. I've been waiting for these movies to come out since the start of the LoTR trilogies. It's going to be harder to wait after each part comes out haha

Pretty much this. It was an amazing movie, really made great use of 3D (first 3D movie I've actually enjoyed watching), and was overall just really solid.

When does the next one come out, though? I'm too excited for it.

The next part comes out next December, and the third part comes out summer of 2014.

It's not that they're taking a while to come out, I'm saying that cause I leave on an LDS mission to Russia in March, which means no movies or anything until I get back in march of 2015, unless my area president is way lax

I knew they were going to come out in yearly intervals. I just know that as soon as the first movie is done, I'll want to see the second movie haha. Waiting until 2015 is unthinkable to me =P

Just got back from seeing it, there's more levity to this first part, and I'm assuming it will continue throughout the remaining two, thanks in no small part to the jovial nature of some of the dwrves in the party. The use of CGI is also more prevalent, but they not too overpowering.

It pretty much lived up to my expectations, though, I was worth the $8.50 (my wife and I saw it at 10am)

Just saw it the other night. Pretty different feel compared to LOTR (although the hobbit book is the same way). Felt like there was a little too much CGI especially on Azog, but I can live with it.

Can't wait till the Silmarillion!

probably just out of respect. idk, I never read any of the books. Not sure what his history is, but I'm guessing he did good deeds in the past.

i swear there was a jason x reference in the movie.

when they're escaping the orc city and the big orc king pops up and gandalf slices his stomach he says "that'll do it". in jason x, jason is fighting that one black guy and he says "it'll take more than a poke in the ribs to bring this old dog down" then he gets stabbed and goes "that'll do it". just sayin.

it just seemed like a direct copy of that scene. maybe just a coincidence.

that wasn't an orc city they were escaping....they were goblins. hence the goblin slayer sword that the group finds. the goblin king also talks about it

I heard that Jackson actually had to take material from the appendices of the Hobbit to have enough material for the movies. That's odd.
