Independence Troubles

Oh dear. I have just recieved an 08 Indy with a host of problems I was unaware of when I got it.

First, the eyes dont work, always thinks there's a ball in the breech. 2nd, the thing drains brand new energizer 9v batteries in 2 days... I've already gone through 3 new batteries in 2 weeks.

3rd, it seems to have an issue with blowback, even without eyes, I cant seem to shoot more than 10bps without having horrific chopping, paint shooting up the feedneck, out the eye covers, even making its way to the hammer, its a mess.

Help me please...

your lucky it does not leak. DO NOT CHANGE ANY ORINGS IF IT DOES NOT LEAK

the gun will have a little blowback, thats normal. the eyes can be bought from Alien if they still have them (they should)

i keep my batterys unplugged when the gun is not in use, cant help you with that. i dont think its normal to drain batterys though. mine does not do that.

get some new eyes, and we can go from there.

also, if it does not leak, do not change orings. the 08 had tollorance issues and can be picky about the orings you use. if it does not leak, it does not need new orings.

Also, where can i get a programing guide for the 08 board? The manual on Alien's site leaves that section blank for some odd reason...

Are you sure the eyes don't work? If you're breaking a lot of paint they may simply be so dirty they always see a ball in the breech. Clean the eyes and the holes they sit in.

I think the battery drain problem is your main issue. A power drain can cause all types of other problems. You might want to check and make sure there are no wires or screws or anything shorting out the board. Especially around the power switch area.

Once you have that solved and get a manual, do a factory reset on the board. That will make sure whoever had it before you didn't mess anything up on the settings, which it sounds like they did. Probably wouldn't hurt to service the regulators as well.

so if you dont mind me asking, because I HAVE THE SAME ISSUE!!! just not the battery problem, what was the root to ur chopping issue after all? did u fix that???

This is a done deal. He recently bought the gun - and it had several issues - board, eyes, LPR.
All taken care of and he put a picture of his gun in the picture thread.

It was a different person tacking a question onto the Original poster's thread......I know the first guy was taken care of lol. Not sure about the second one.
