How old is too old for paintball?

So I was slowly phasing out of paintball about 2 years ago, until I officially just quit playing altogether shortly after last year's world cup. This year's world cup came around, and it was the first time in 4 years I didn't go to spectate. World Cup used to be one of my highlights of the year, even just to spectate. So the past couple of months i've really been getting the itch to play again, but I remember one of the reasons I quit was because I just felt too old on the field. It's a sport filled with 12-16 year olds. I'm 21. How old is too old for paintball?

Dead. I've seen 50-60 year old players at the field on a semi-regular basis.

The sport started among players between 20 and 40, 18 was the youngest you would see. The only concern you should have about playing around younger players is being a bit of an ambassador. The sport needs more of them!

When you need a walker to get to the back right corner you might be too old haha. But seriously play until you can't anymore. That's what's great about this sport. It keeps you young. However, you may not feel too young the day after lol

it's not about age- it's desire to "play", I'm 58 years young and play tourny ball for my pump team. also play semi- won the last local 3man event with my son 2 months ago. if youre 21 you should be in your prime- you may just want to change how you play the game. for instance: play back and cover the front guys- act as a sniper- zone control from a comfortable bunker- things like that. or may be take some time off- or try milsims for something different. my2cents. Bill- EVIL INTENT- socal

I just started this year, and I'm 33. I don't really think it's determining factor for me. Money on the other hand...

I agree with brokedown. 21 is prime, probably the very beginning of your prime. Im 38 and I play every weekend. If you have a desire to play then nothing should stop you.

If you can still move and pull a trigger, you are not too old for paintball!

I met a 76 year old paintball player this summer. He and his cane (named Micheal...) came out to play but the High humidity stopped him.

I am 30, and one of the younger players in our group...

I've seen the same age, a 76 year old retired pro team rage player. I saw him in one of the outlaw fields trying to coach a team. He would play one game and sit out for two. He was a backman so he was more relevant of a player for a longer period of time. When I first knew about him, while he was training me about the ins and outs of being a killer frontman, he must of been 57. He usually just loaded a case of paint on his back, and unloaded on everyone at the beginning of the game without stopping. I enjoyed being on the other team, because it made the games have that much more action. When we were on the same team, we would typically destroy everyone else in under 2 minutes. Didn't matter if it was a woodsball field. He was getting slower and slower on the trigger because of his arthritis. It's a good thing the PSP rules came out I guess. Doesn't take that much skill to shoot fast anymore.

I remember snowboarding. The first year I was trying to figure out how to do an indy off a kicker jump. I heard that this dude was a pro at snowboarding, so I asked him, "Hey, could you give me some pointers on how to take jumps without destroying myself on the landing?" He said, "Sorry, I'm too old for that now." I asked him how old he was, his age revealed that he was three years younger than me. I later learned that year to do a mute, stalefish, indy, and method air. My skill level was too low to figure out 180s. But damn taking jumps is like learning to fly. It is so awesome. It's almost as fun as paintballing.

Where I play it's pretty even between the age groups, I see people from 10 to 50+ playing all the time. Though it does seem like the older crowd (30s and up) tend to play more woodsball than speedball.

I'm 39 and having just as much fun playing paintball than I have in the past 22 years. I play more woodsball and urban terrain then speedball, but I'll play even if I'm 80 in a motorized wheelchair; just give me a hammer and call me a tank. If I die playing paintball, then I will have died doing something that I love. There is no age that is to old to play if you ask me.

I'm 54, been playing paintball since I was 29.

It's true, I'm not as fast as I once was. My eyes are not as sharp, my hearing not as keen, and I lose my stamina much quicker.

I'm quite willing to admit that I am "Past My Prime" and should not be trying to compete with kids still in their 20s-30s. I've played many tournaments in the past 25 years, including World Cup ('98) so I'm pretty familiar with what it takes to compete.

So maybe I'm too old to go sliding into bunkers.
But is that all there is to paintball?

These days I play mostly scenario games where I can take my time and enjoy myself. Not having to be "on deck" makes for a much more relaxed atmosphere and that's the other side of paintball.
Not to compete, just to have fun.

I still enjoy speedball, and even if I'm not the athlete I was in my 30's, I can still give these kids a good game.
Y'know why?
Experience.

Heck, I didn't start until I was in my 20's.

Paintball is a sport for adults, we just let the kids play too.

What he said.

Have you tried scenario and big games events? Lot more of the "mature" players attend those… and we are more fun to drink with.

I'm 37 btw.
