EGO Operating Presure

I have some questions regarding the operating pressure of EGO's but I am having some trouble finding the answers. I even called PE but they were not able to answer my questions either.

After watching the EGO 9 tech video Jack explains that the volume chamber has been increased and therefore allows a lower operating pressure. Having said that, does anybody know how much lower the operating pressure is compared to an ego 8?

Also I noticed there are low pressure and high pressure valves for the EGO 7 all the way to the EGO 11. I understand the LP valve has a larger face to allow more volume into the firing chamber to compensate for lower pressure. Is the difference in flow dramatic between the valves?

For example, if one EGO had a low pressure valve and achieves 300 FPS and a second EGO had a high pressure valve with an identical chrono rating, dwell setting and LPR setting (I know there are other variables, take this with a grain of salt), what would the operating pressure be for the 1st and 2nd EGO?

1st ego=lower pressure, 2nd ego being higher pressure..... The answer is in your question? Without knowing the exact pressure, one could only assume.

Thanks but you are kind of missing the point. I just wanted to find out a rough pressure difference between the two valves and how much a larger valve opening contributes to dropping pressure.

I'm not sure many put a gauge adapter between their reg and ego. it would be interesting to see.

ya I wonder what is ideal???

for the ego 11

does it effect shots per fill...or smoothness

most tank regs are adjustable now...

I asked Bill bout ...the ego 11 with the dart kit and he said 450 would be fine for tank output pressure...I figured the lower the tank pressure the more shots I could get per fill

Sorry if I was not clear in my first post. I was refering to operating pressure as to the pressure that releases the paintball out of the firing chamber, meaning the inline regulator.

I was going to show my Ego11 reg pressure but then remembered the threads are different than standard regs.

He wants the lpr pressure settings, not many people have a pressure tester for the egos because not many were made.

? are you saying the HPR on the Ego 11 is a different thread than other HPR's on the market?

Yes. For the Ego11, eclipse changed the SL3 reg to female threads. All other Ego regulators are male threads.

And to answer the LPR pressure question, when one said person who cannot be named here, did a review on the Ego11 his LPR tester showed a pressure just above 100psi I believe.

No I am talking about the HPR because that controls the operating pressure. The LPR controls the ram pressure.

Thanks for that link, that entire paragraph answered my first question about the difference in the volume chamber!

Quote:
Larger Valve Chamber
For the last 4 years the Ego valve chamber has stayed roughly the same volume, and manipulation of the valve guide dimensions, solenoid valve and in-line regulator volume has allowed tweaking and refinement of the operating pressure of the gun. With the Ego9 a completely revised body layout has allowed the volume of the valve chamber to grow by approximately 30%. This larger valve chamber, combined with the higher rammer speeds afforded by the new solenoid assembly (see above) have meant that with the standard valve guide (same orifice dimensions as Ego7 and Ego8) the operating pressure has been dropped to an incredibly low 160psi at 290fps. This reduced operating pressure is well below any other previous Ego, and is in the kind of operating range that is normally associated with a Spool Valve type marker. The benefits of a reduced operating pressure? Quieter shot signature and reduced peak pressure behind the ball.

LPR is around 100 psi from what I've heard.

If I remember, a typical operating point for an Ego7-8 would be around 250 psi, guessing probably 225 or so for Ego9-10, and slightly lower for an Ego11/S.

I remember those numbers from the 07-08 from people putting their regs on other guns (most notably a few guys who slapped one onto an Autococker for one reason or another, including myself, which had a guage on the front block or FRM) but don't recall an exact measurement on the 09-10. As for the 11 it would need the threading that matches the SL3 reg.
