Tournament Gun Under $400
I wanted some opinion of the best tournament or speedball style paintball guns under $400. I was looking at going up to an Etek 4, but was not sure if there is a gun that is less money and it is just as good if not better. I am a rec player with a Tippmann X7 Phenom. It is a great gun, but I like the style of the other guns.

Invert Mini or Empire Axe. Essentially the same marker, just different sizes and things. Both available used or new for under $400.

Etek 4s are super solid, same with axes, and most other new guns in that price range (not dangerous power). If I was going to recomend something used, go for a geo 1/+.

Planet Eclipse Etha. In my opinion it is the best "tournament" style marker in its price range.

If I was going to reccommend anything in the 3-500 range for a gun it would be the empire axe.
I have a luxe 2.0, geo 2.1 and an axe..... What I shoot depends on what I got ready to be shot. Usually, I'll shoot all 3 over a course of a day because usually each one is ready to go. My point is, when I put away my luxe or geo and pull out the axe, in no way do I feel like I am down grading.
I like brand new things, especially when I dont know too much about what I am getting myself into. So a brand new axe for around $450 or so is a pretty damn good deal.

Buy something used. An old DM or Ego or something.

I would reccommend the Empire Axe or the Planet Eclipse Etha, I'm not a personal fan of spools but they've gotten great reviews.

Thanks a lot for the information. I am thinking either the Etek 4 or the Axe.

I highly reccomend the axe, pick up a grip extender and a lurker bolt and a .689 dye ul barrel, you could get all of that for about 400 used. I've owned Geo's luxe's ego's used nt's dm's and so on.. and all of them are great guns, but for the price of the axe you can not beat it.. it's almost as smooth as a luxe!

I'm surprised no one has commented on the GoG eXTCy. If you want to save some cash, it's amazing. The only real downside is that it's a bit heavier than the competition, but other than that it's amazing and has everything you need. If you have to stretch your budget to afford the Axe or Etek, just get the eXTCy.

Most people will recommend whatever they have or used to have.
I have a Etek 3 so obviously I think they are nice. I know some guys who really like their mini or axes so those are obviously nice as well.
The cheapest tournament guns would be Smart Parts/GOG guns.

Gen 3 (2005) Bob Long Intimidator. Some of the best markers I've ever owned, and they go for $250-350 used today.
Easy maintanence, reliable, effecient, lots of customizability, great customer support still, and can keep up with anything today.

Unless you go used you well not find an axe or etek for 400, like lotuselise said the GoG eXTCy is a great entry level gun, you can get it new with ups for under 400 easily. If you don't mind getting a used gun go with the any old high end marker. Check the B/S/T forums

All depends on what you consider a tournament gun. If you are just starting to play local tournies grab something used. I still shoot a DM6 most of the time. Our locals usually have a 10.5 bps cap so with that said speed is not an issue. Any electro can hit 10.5bps so go with any gun that is easy to work on and is reliable. If you are like "most" younger players you're gonna care about the look of the gun and the brand. Most people will tell you a used mini/axe, ego/etek, or something of the like.
Basically, pick a gun that feels good to you, has a reliable rep, and is easy to work on. Who cares what brand or what it looks like.

Get a mini. I doesn't matter if they are small because if you play tourneys you will be ramping.
