A few quick questions..

Hey guys so I decided that when I upgrade my marker I want to go to either an etek 4 or an ego. I was wondering though, would I be better off buying a new etek4, or buying an older ego since they fall into about the same price range depending on which year ego you get.

My second question is what is the difference between AM and LT? I know that one has metal parts and the other doesn't, but is that all? If so what does that matter? What are the are the advantages to getting an AM over a LT?

As you stated the difference in the AM and LT is the AM model has aluminum feedneck/lever, eye covers, and frame. Where the LT has GRN parts, similar to the composite in Glock handguns. In my opinion the advantages and disadvantages go as listed.

AM advantages:
*Allows to to anodize everything if desired
*Allows you to install the Emortal board

AM Disadvantages
*Its aluminum we all know what happens if you land on them
*Costs a bit more
*A bit heavier (almost unnnoticable)

LT advantages
*To my knowledge no documented frame breaks
*Costs less
*A bit lighter (almost unnoticable)

LT disadvantages
*Cannot install Emortal board without frame modifications
*Cannot anodize GRN parts

I'm sure there are more to them but I don't have enough time to write up a full review. Everyone will have their different opinions on the two models. But in my own personal opinion I would go AM. Also in the overall scheme of things if you are going to drop around $400+ on a marker I would look around for an Ego. I have seen Ego 9s go for not much more than $400 if you get lucky. Even if it is an ugly brown and beat up you can still get it anodized, and BOOM you got a nice newish Ego 9!

In my opinion, I say that at this point just look right past buying an Etek. When the Etek 3 came out the Ego 9 was still very pricey, but now that the Etek4 is out you can get an SLS (the special Ego 10) for less than an AM Etek4.

I have an etek 4. I got the lt because I'm not worried about putting a different board in. This is a midrange gun and if you want something that gives you a little more go for an ego.
