Dirtbike! What kind?
Okay so I was thinking about buying a Dirtbike for my brother who is now twelve this Christmas, but I don't know what to get him and all of my bikes are way to big.
I'm 6'2" and he's 5'6"
I'm looking for something he'll be able to rife with as little maintanance as possible because he'll be taking care of them ahaha
Any suggestions are fine!

Something that goes BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP
Because that is what matters when you're 12. Or white trash.
Ask in the Motorcycle Thread, they should be able to help.

He's probably big enough for a 125. And, as he gets older, he could upgrade the suspension and it would grow with him.
There is a dirt bike thread in sports IIRC.

Ehhh 250 is a lot of bike for someone that size. I'm not much bigger and can barley touch the ground on mine. If they are going to be riding in a field or open area he should be fine, trails in the woods are a little bit harder to ride I think on something I can't touch the ground that great on.

I know kids that are 5ft and riding a big bike. Most of them are pretty good at it. At 5' 6", he should be fine. Common sense and knowing your limits goes a long way, as wacky as those words sound in the world of motocross.

He's ****ing 12 and probably not riden much.
A 125 is enough for anyone to be happy with. Upgrades can give it a bit more if you want and raise it as you grow.

125 and 250f are very close in size. The 250f is gonna be a tiny bit heavier and be easier to ride since they don't have the crazy powerband.
Though, for a 12 year old, I'd honestly say KX85L or KX100, maybe CRF150.

I'm just saying that i'm 24 and can barely be responsible on a slow dirt bike. I'd say crf 230 or xr200 if you can find one.

Those little xr/crf100fs are fun, and can take a beating and a half, but it'll leave him wanting more after not very long, IMO

Heh, well really it'll depend on what he's doing with it. I was on the track, and the XR I had wasn't even worth racing. By the time I was 12 I wanted an 85. Then at like 14 or 15, a 250f

Might as well get him hooked up with a factory 450. He'll grow into it.
But seriously, look into a yz250f. I have an 09 kx250f and I've rode my buds yz250f and it felt so small. I honestly felt like I was on my brothers kx100. The yammy is like 30lbs lighter than the kx, and it isn't as wide. For my first time on a particular bike that I've never rode before, I felt pretty solid on it.

I've riden a 110. Too small for someone who is 5'6.

KLX110 is a good bit smaller than an xr80/100 and way smaller than a kx100 or crf150r.

If he's still growing a KX100 or CRF150R will be a waste. He'll probably out grow it in a few months. He's at about the tallest he can be, and be comfortable riding it. Once he hits 5' 9" it'll be like a pitbike to him.
