Carbon Fiber Tanks
I recieved my first ever Carbon fiber tank (ninja 68 4500) Is it normal for the outside to not be smooth. There are bumps every where.

They aren't perfectly smooth like the steel/aluminum tanks. So I would say yes as long as your tank isn't disformed for some reason (big bumps).
Although I suggest getting a tank cover

If you can post a picture, then we may be able to see, but bumps on a tank are not supposed to be there. Did you buy it used or new?

If you could post a picture, it would be great. However, unusual bumps shouldn't be on the tank. If you bought it used or new, I think Ninja might be willing to replace the tank.

Ninja clear coats their tanks. So perhaps that is what it is from. There's no safety hazard to it.

Please post a picture so we could help identify it. Are they small bumps like maybe dust or something, or is it some kind of defect. Either way if you are dissatisfied you could always ask ninja and send them a picture and they will tell you

Picture is very blurry and far away from what your trying to show..
Though on the "N" I can see a spot that stands out from the rest of the finish. That black is just a fell finish and does not effect the tank at all. But since the tank is new I would contact anusgear and have them replace it or get some kind of refund.

another picture that is a little bigger and clearer http://s1286.beta.photobucket.com/us...tml?sort=3&o=0
You can see the bumps off of the reflection. It is not like a steely that is smooth all the way around. Fr this carbon fiber tank, it is bumpy around the entire thing.

Yeaa like I said it's just a coating on the outside. It doesn't affect the tank. But since it's new, you might wanna contact Ninja or where you bought it from. Ninja has really awesome customer service.

From your picture it looks like wavy. Thats the outside, since it is new contact Ninja. If you try to contact ANS I think they might tell you the same but if it is unused give them a call

That's the way the new coatings are on the new Ninja tanks. We get them direct from Ninja that way at our shop. But contact Ninja, either through the thread in the Air Systems Discussion subforum, or by email I'm sure they'd be glad to clear things up whether it is a defect in the coating or fine.

it looks normal to me. the coating on CF tanks isn't the same as the layer of paint on a metal tank. its a much thicker resin/clear coat that protects the fiber strands. thick coatings like that tend to go on a little gooey and thus where the small bumps come from.
