PSP rules... Please help!

I was looking at a new marker It was up between a Bubblegum Geo 3, Bubblegum Ego 11, or a MacDev Clone GT Red/Gold color. Form what I understand is that in the PSP (and in most tournaments considering they follow PSP rules) you can not use items that hide a hit. From what I read the only color fill you can use in the PSP is yellow. So does that mean the Bubblegum or the Red/Gold color scheme is a bad idea? I really had my heart set on the bubblegum color scheme or a red and yellow/gold color scheme. Can someone people help me out?

If you have to ask, it's probably not a good idea. Guns that play the gray area in the rule book tend to draw unwanted attention.

That gun is gold, not yellow. You should not have a problem with it

It's very common for manufacturers to release markers that are not tournament legal.

It is always up to the head ref to make the final decision. As for those three guns, Macdev...

I see what the Bubblegum Color scheme looks like in person today, You could see yellow paint all over that marker its like a darker gold.

I dunno... I just googled planet eclipse yellow and those were some of the first examples...

In case anyone cares about specifics on this rule:

9.7.3. The color yellow is prohibited on any players equipment or clothing, except that a player's jersey, pants, gloves or shoes may have yellow, so long as no part of the yellow coloring is more than 0.25 cm from some other color, and no more than 10% of any 5cm by 5cm square on clothing or item is yellow.
9.7.3.1. For reference purposes, 'yellow' is any color similar to Pantone colors 101, 102, 107, 108, 109, 116, 3945, 3955, 3965, and 803, although any head judge may prohibit any equipment they believe interferes with the judges' ability to officiate effectively.

So does that mean gold or what? I dont think that makes any sense.

Actually it does.

First, basically you cannot have yellow except for small lines on any piece of equipment.

Second, what is yellow? Google those colors and you'll get an idea. Anything you would say is straight up yellow would obviously not be allowed. But what about colors that are a few shades off (such as some golds)? First it is pretty subjective. What one person says is close, another might say isn't. If the gold is similar enough to the fill that it isn't obvious to a ref from a distance, don't do it.

Also, if a ref says it isn't allowed, and you argue to a head ref, he might say no just out of spite. Basically, don't tiptoe the line.

So what about these colors? Hard to say without seeing the color in person.

It states that yellow is not allowed and colors that interfere with a ref's ability to do his job may not be allowed. Colors resembling yellow, namely gold, can be rejected at the discretion of the referees and you won't have a leg to stand on when they do.

TL;DR - If you want a gun that's always tournament legal, avoid yellow, orange, and gold like the plague. They'll look real good at the bottom of your gearbag when the refs tell you not to use it.

It would probably work if you just told them that it's gold and not yellow. To be honest, I don't think Planet Eclipse or MacDev would make yellow markers and know that their players use them in tournaments.

If a ref decides it interferes with his job, you're given the choice between covering all illegal parts (for example, gold) before setting foot on the field, and finding another gun. If you don't have a way of meeting one of the two requirements, it's your problem.

Remember that big companies don't just sell to tournament players. They sell their products to rec players too, where it doesn't matter if it's tournament legal.
