I think they're great for the price. why do people not like them?

Lot of people had a bolt stick problem right out of the box and did not know how to deal with it.

because the factory lube on them was junk and made them not work, then noobs would watch the tech pb video and mike would tell them to use baby oil on the bolt which made them run even worse. so as you can imagine, a bunch of noobs with g4s are frustrated because their gun does not work. word gets out that they "dont work" and then they have a bad name
ALL BECAUSE PEOPLE DID NOT KNOW HOW TO GREASE THEIR GUN PROPERLY.
cool right?

The macroline fittings aren't too great either. Cheap to replace though.

It's funny because baby oil works for that first lubing....
The point of the baby oil was to use it if you didn't completely clean out that DP40 **** because the baby oil thins out grease pretty well.

i cant count on two hands the amount of people who have personally come to me through PM or in person with a G4 or spec r that absolutely does not work AFTER they used the baby oil. I tell them to use some real grease like violent pb jelly or lurker lube and BAM the gun is working great.
The things I suggest to people are tried and true, i dont try something with a gun, think it works and then tell a **** ton of my subscribers that it works without testing it properly. Its not hard to open a DP noid and do it right the first time.

thats not the point.
1) baby oil wont stay on the bolt long enough for 2 matches (baby oil or try flow, does not matter)
2) baby oil will do the same thing to the noid, run it dry!
3) the regulator wont be as consistent.
Would you run your car on the wrong oil or NO OIL? No, you use the proper oil and in the case of DP guns, that would be top of the line paintball grease that stays where you put it. Bolt orings will wear down 10x faster after that oil gets shot down the barrel. Just like a piston ring with no oil, FRIED.

people complain because of the bolt stick which is easy to fix by just removing the stock lube and using something like gun sav, although I did use the DP-40 without a problem like twice I switched to the gun sav to be safe and didnt have a problem. the macroline usually leaks when i first put air in it but i wiggle the line for 30 seconds and its good. Its not a big enough annoyance for me to change lol. All in all I love my G4 and so far hasent given me any problems. But if you were to buy new I would look into the G5 after people have used it and reviews are out, it looks good and from my experience with DP should shoot well.

Serious question: The manual for the Proton says to put a few drops of oil in the ASA and then air it up for maintenance. Should I just be pulling the bolt and lubing like a G3?

No. The noids react to oil differently

The proton manual says to do that for Regulator maintenance, not the bolt. You're mixing the two up I believe.

For somone like myself who is getting a G4 in a few days... what type of lube should I be getting? I hear bolt stick is a problem.
This is my frist real marker so I want to make sure I do it right....
take out the bolt... remove all lube from it and add what to it?
