So, my friends 14th birthday is in about 20 days, and he really wants to get into paintball (I recently squeezed by wallet to grab a Spyder Victor). He's got a bit more money than I do, (Enough for a Fenix or Rail, but not a Luxe) and he really wants to akimbo TPXs. I tried to convince him that he should stick to a basic gun first, you know, to train away from tunnel vision and learn the game more before he throws himself headfirst into a Rail thinking that he can afford to spray paint and he'll hit everything. Granted he's a good shot, but kind of wimpy. What should I tell him?

Cheap is the way to go. Paintball may not be his thing. A spyder would be a great choice.

He's played twice before, and he loves the sport. He decided to go with a single TiPX and a T98 Custom. I hope he has the skill to avoid getting lit up with that scrawny TiPX... He thinks he's a god or something. Sigh...

I would've recommended an entry level electro to be honest... especially when an Ion can be had for 75$...
I feel like hes going to regret that decision he made.

But hey, whatever gets him out on the field.

Forget the rail or smart parts. Go with a mini. Light weight. It will keepip with the high end electros. And if he decides that the sport is not for him......its pretty easy to get rid of.

Umm... I can understand suggesting another gun.... but to say "forget"... is a little retarded. the rail and Ion does and is everything you just mentioned about the mini... Mini's ergo isnt for everyone either.

He already made his decision and bought a gun anyway.

Agreed Ions are pretty good markers for beginners
